Jeter is the face of the Yankees not the game of baseball, fact is hes far from the greatest SS to ever play the game. I get it hes the Yankees captain has been for years was never a bad thing said or posted about the guy. The Rivera love I get that the guy honestly was the greatest closer of all time, but Jeter is just meh.

Give it up, you can't talk to Yankees fans about Jeter. Lots of them still think he was a great defensive SS, and if you are THAT clueless about the game, no amount of rational discussion will sink in.

O so because its on Google it must be true? Its all opinionated bias truthfully I associate Babe Ruth more with overall baseball then I do Jeter as Ruths impact actually saved the game. If your talking only modern era then yes it would probably be Jeter. In the 70's it was Hank Aaron for obvious reasons, 50/60's it was Maris and Mantle possibly even Ted Williams. Miggy has had impact but lets be real while the guy is talented and is the best hitter in the game, he cant speak English to save his life.

Personally I never thought of Jeter as a "face" of baseball as I always found his demeanor to be arrogant. I dont discredit what he did for your franchise, its similar to what Yzerman did for the Red Wings, to be with 1 team for 20 years in this era and retire with said team is nothing to scoff at.

In the modern era yeah Jeter is probably considered the "face" of MLB, but lets be real the real face of MLB has a candy bar and died on August 16, 1948.

He may very well be all class, that is just how his demeanor comes off to me. I don't know what the guy does for the community in New York, I just know that when I see Jeter the guy to me comes off like a pompous ass. I have said it multiple times, I have never seen a bad story published about him, I have never seen a story from an ex girlfriend of his, and there have been a lot. So yeah the guy could be the most humble person in the world for all I know. If he is more power to him I hope he keeps up helping the community. If hes not well then so be it, baseball unfortunately does not have the humanitarian award similar to the NFL as far as I know.
