If anyone is listening (or watching on YES) the Michael Kay show, he has brought up a lot of good point about the Yankee trades. McCarthy and Headley makes us incrementally better. We do need to get another starting pitcher and another outfielder. Cliff Lee has been attached to us, but he is owned a lot of money and he is now injury prone (even though he is a big game pitcher). Also, we have been talking to the Chi Sox about John Danks (who is also lefty but I'm not sure about his contract). So most likely it will be one of those two.

As far as outfielders go, Matt Kemp name has come up. The only way he would be playing RF in the BX would be if the Dodgers eat at least half of his salary and we don't have to give up a high level prospect (most likely we would probably have to if they would eat at least half his salary). It's a realistic scenario since they have about 5 outfielders. We need a RF because Ichiro is no longer a everyday player (he put up a high batting avg earlier in the year because he was a pt player. When he became FT, his BA dropped a lot and 0HR and 11 RBI up to this point isn't going to cut it.

My point stands that the Dodgers would be looking to move Kemp (and maybe Ethier too).

So is Headley. He is low risk because of his free agency. He is in decline and even the short porch in right field won't help. Mc Carthy is a good pickup. Arizona should have got more for him. Yanks need more than one SP, and quite frankly don't have the prospects to get one. Only way is if they take on payroll, and these Steinbrenners are not George. I wouldn't trust them. They let one of the top five players now go, and overpaid for everybody else.

And the M's overpaid and overdid the years (then again, that's the only way they can get people to play in Seattle. The Yankees farm system is better than everyone thinks. The only issue is that most of our best prospects are in AA and below. I do agree that we need on more SP via trade (I already mentioned that Cliff Lee's name is attached to is and we have spoken to the Chi Sox about John Danks). We also need a RF too (which I why I mentioned Matt Kemp but I only see him coming here if the Dodgers eat at least half his salary which would be 50 million out for the 100 million he's owned).

Yeah and good job winning a division in 1997 . That's a good 17 years ago, and that number will continue to grow. Neither the Orioles or the Jays will be winning the division.
