I have the Pioneer Elite BDP-94HD, which, I believe, is the U.S. equivalent to the BDP-LX70. I installed all of the firmware upgrades immediately upon release. The latest version is 2.46. I experienced multiple "freeze-up" issues until I upgraded. Since then, no problems.
