I got these (no sub) for the bedroom, and they're great. I wouldn't get a B&W sub though... but that's just me.....

Yes, I have considered this. However, I do like to see my satellites eventhough I don't want a bunch of exposed equipment sitting around. I love seeing the speakers on the ceiling and that is one of the greatest appeals to me. I enjoy showing off the equipment and being able to see them meets a personal need in me that makes me feel good about my set-up.

I believe all of what you do in these kinds of sound environments; types of equipment; color of equipment; seeing or not seeing the gear, relates to the overall whole experience one can have with their system. It's not only about what you hear, but the whole emotional immersion that takes place. There is a profound psychological dynamic that takes place when you walk into your room and meet your system. I don't know about others, but I thoroughly enjoy just standing back and looking at my system without running it sometimes. The visual appeal of all your equipment sitting in your racks, or armoire, is quite stimulating and meets some of our most basic needs as humans.

I need to know that everytime I walk into my media room I will see a display that will convince me that I made the right choices aesthetically, and then convince me when I power it up that I made the right choices audibly. Afterall, this is why we're all here, for one reason or the other.

I have been very pleased with this Plasma. This is my first one and I'm not regretting it at all.

Yes, they do need to have an aesthetic appeal to the eye to satisfy my wife. No utilitarian or boxy large speakers to look at. Of course, they need to satisfy my eye also and I, too, enjoy a smaller less square configuration for hanging speakers.
I have no quams with that.. To each his own..

I looked at these and they do seem to be quite impressive, although I really like the look of the Mirage OMNISAT v2. You know when you see something and it just screams out "THIS IS IT"? The Mirage set-up seems to be talking to me.

I've learned through my years that typically the one that grabs my attention first is going to be what I gravitate towards. I'm always driven by aesthetics first; the appeal to the eye, and then I research the meat of that product and make a concerted decision.

The Mirage set-up is calling my name...lol.

Yepper! I have already ordered my Onkyo 705, so it's on its way... hopefully. I'm pretty darn sure my satellites will be the OMNISAT V2 x 4 + Omnisat v2 CC and sub will be the Acoustech H-100/500-Watt by BIC.

I guess I'll need to call my buddy that helped me wire my Bose when I built this house almost two years ago and get his ass back over and help me wire this new system. That means a BBQ, beer and installation party... I'M IN!

Anyone else wanna come?

Would there be a problem inverting this CC and hanging it upside down? I want it above the set but it would need to hang inverted to put it where I want it. Look at the picture and notice the two top slots and the silver cable box and Bose head unit. Between them is a partition that separates them with the center channel in the same compartment as the Bose receiver on right, facing it. I would invert the Mirage CC and mount it centered between the two top slots and in front of the partition.

Problem with inverting it?

No problem inverting, if you're hanging it.... I'd be careful to not get unwanted vibrations, but it should be no problem.... doesn't look like you can just "set it" upside down, because of the shape...... looks round... you'll probably have to hang it.

Only problem with inverting it is that you will have to watch movies upside down you so you can understand what people are saying... lolololol j/k

That's exactly what I was afraid of! Now I'm going to have to rearrange all the furniture or find a FW update that corrects inverted English.

Great timing as they just jacked up the 705 by $20. I browsed through this thread not reading every single word, but do you mind me asking what you ended up doing to solve your depth issue to accomodate and fit the 705?? I had the same problem and could not find really any receiver whatsoever to clear my slim cabinet glass casing. Any decent receiver on the market today is going to need in the 15"ish inch range. So I ended up having to fish for a small 27X18 bookcase type piece just for my receiver to sit on, but also could tuck in the HD antenna as well. The only receivers that really stand out in terms of functionality and being of a smaller footprint would be a couple of the Sony's like the 820.

I hope everything works out. Don't forget to get good quality speaker wire. I'd recommend at least 14 guage wire. Otherwise, have a fun installation party!
