Slightly disappointed (but not too much) that The Lady Vanishes and The Man Who Knew Too Much have been pushed back to early next year. Just a guess, but if it means getting the transfer and audio right, then I have no complaints.
Looks like Animal Farm and Unearthly Stranger are the only Blu-ray film titles left which are yet to be released by Network this year. |

It's a bit weird. The BFI too, even Eureka. I wonder why it's such a widespread thing...don't seem to remember it happening very often last year or the year before.

They really ought to withdraw The Quiller Memorandum and try again, it took some nerve (or blind employees) to release it in that state.

It's pretty much the same as the ITV release, the grain is a little bit tighter. It's an old master but worth a look if your a fan. Audio is a little shifty too in places too. If you can find it fairly cheap I'd give it a shot

...aaaaaaand that's why I'll stick with the ITV disc. There's still a slight bit of banding in that opening shot, but it's not as "brutal" (couldn't have put it better myself) as the new encode. What is going on with UK encodes lately? I might shoot network an email, see what they say about it. |

Network have added a Blu-ray film title to The British Film and Forthcoming sections on their website, which is being released next year (title and it's release date is subject to change):
The Thief of Bagdad (1940) - Monday 26th January. |

Wooow, one of the best looking artworks I can remember! I'm so happy this is gonna be released in the UK! Here's hoping it's not the German master.
Because of all these releases coming out at the same time, I totally missed this. Thanks for the post, as this is my favourite Skolimowski, and arguably his masterpiece (destabilizing film). |

The PQ is excellent, however i had some big issues with the sound. The volume levels are all over the place and the dialogue is very hard to hear throughout the film. I usually have my TV volume between 7 & 10, i had to turn it up to 30 for some scenes
![]() This is fantastic news, i love The Thief of Bagdad. |
