the original (non special-edition version) region-1 dvd actually contains two different versions of the film. The fullscreen version is the theatrical version, the widescreen version has one brief shot replaced. It is a small scene near the end at 1:54:06 just before batman fights the joker in the clocktower. In the fullscreen version vicki vale gets a disgusted look when she kisses the jokers jacket and pulls a lint out of her mouth, however in the widescreen version she really seems to like it.

Now, I gotta' say that I don't mind this release, and I'm one Collector, who's definitely interested

Not a good phrase to use in this case, Batman prefers the night

Some films seem to have a really dull look to them (I guess it's the way it was filmed) and in my opinion wouldn't really benefit from being remastered. Like you say we could be wrong though and a 4k remaster could look miles better than the original blu ray release but somehow I doubt it.
Batman could look better with a new 4k scan I'm sure, but yeah, for the most part it looks good. The film is never going to amaze due to how it was shot.

If it's just the same transfer and that new bonus feature isn't significant, I will just get the four-film favourites edition that has all four movies in a nice, single bluray case to save on shelf space. Much better deal, since it is under $30 for all four movies. However, I will hold off on getting it until we know exactly what will be in this release.

The blu ray book for Batman is quite nice, I recommend that edition if you like packaging. You can get the rest cheaper.

I don't care about packaging, that's why I mentioned the four-film favourites version. It's also cheaper than buying them separately. I've never seen the movies individually cheap enough to make it cheaper over the collection.

Of course not, I was simply saying if you care about packaging at all.

I saw that yesterday, but it didn't even occur to me then that they weren't included in the US edition. It's also interesting that it doesn't mention the one confirmed for the US: "Batman: The Birth of the Modern Blockbuster." I wonder if both will have all 3, or whether they'll truly be different.

It would be nice to know how long they are as well considering they are on a separate disc by themselves.

If the Gremlins disc is any evidence, they'll be less than an hour.

The Making of a Hero is a UK documentary apparently, so it may very well be exclusive to the Zavvi release. It's 26 mins long

You can see it here:

USA Batman 25th

I have the Digibook and just got the Steelbook. I have ordered the 25th and I am looking forward to it. I would love to see the TAS on Blu-ray along with some of the other Animated movies. I am looking forward to Batman Vs Robin and the two Justice League Animated movies. Batman has always been my favorite DC hero. Though I do buy all the comic book movies.

Yeah I agree - Batman was never one of those benchmark looking films, but a 4K scan could squeeze some more detail into it - look at Ghostbusters for example.

Even a fresh 2k scan with no DNR would look a little better than the transfer we have currently. The original release had some unnecessary filtering.
