I think it's called Double scale? if you change it to that mode it'll zoom in even more. Of course it has very little data to work with. My wife was quite peeved to discover we actually owned one of these discs!

i have mine set to Full not double scale but i just wish my anamorphic movies played in widescreen and tried everything i could think of

You have to use "Normal" for 4:3 coded DVDs, and then use the zoom function on the HDTV.

That's the other thing I don't understand. The PS3 doesn't let me change the picture format with the remote control, so I can't zoom.
