That one was one of my closest "runners up" on my list. Christopher Lee as the villain??? It's gotta be good!! Truth is, to me, there is no "bad" Bond picture....I like them all, and love a lot of them. Best movie series of all time

Oh so your one of those....
To bad youve missed some great movies.
Ghost Protocol and especially Edge of Tomorrow are great films,
try seperating the man from the performance.

Great thing about movies, is that audiences can all make up their own minds It might have not felt overrated to you.
But I know my own personal feeling is that its one of if not the most overrated bond film. For me it doesnt even make my top 10 Bond list.
But thats just me.
And it being overrated doesnt take away from the fact that its a good movie.

the thing i am most disapointed with going into Bond 24, is unfortunately being saddled with another Lemony Snickets and a series of Unfortunate American Beauty on the Road to Purdition generic interchangeable Thomas Newman score.

Seriously it speaks volumes that Newman's version of the main Bond Theme was axed from the final cut of the movie and David Arnold's was used instead.

Having said that I get enjoyment out of all bond films, and I know there will still be plenty to enjoy in Bond 24.

I'm glad they're bringing back Sam Mendes. He's a brilliant director and I loved Skyfall.

I would like to see Joe Wright direct a Bond film. I think he'd be really, really good. Of course we all want Christopher Nolan one day at the helm and Tom Hardy as the next Bond.

BTW here's my top five 007 films in order:

1. On Her Majesties Secret Service
2. You Only Live Twice
3. Thunderball
4. From Russia with Love
5. Goldeneye

007's ranked by favorite:

1. Sean Connery
2. Pierce Brosnan
3. George Lazenby
4. Daniel Craig
5. Roger Moore
6. Timothy Dalton

The only Bond films from the last 40 years that I'd out in my top 10 would be Goldeneye and Casino Royale.

I'm not a fan of Cruise BUT if any of his recent movies looked like something I REALLY wanted to see (instead they've all been "eh, I'll pass"), I wouldn't resist out of principle or anything like that.

Anyway, why does every Bond thread always end up turning into a "rank the movies" fest?

Top 2 are rock solid:

1. Tomorrow Never Dies
2. Goldfinger

I'd need to rewatch some more of my favorites before knowing for sure how I'd rank them this year (my opinion is usually always changing) but some possibilities include, in chronological order:

From Russia With Love
You Only Live Twice
The Spy Who Loved Me
Goldeneye
Skyfall

and let's not forget one of the greatest comedies of all time:

Moonraker

The reason I don't list Casino Royale is because it took too long to start feeling like a Bond film (yes, I realize that was the point and many people love it for that reason but it still doesn't make for optimal viewing in my opinion).

On Her Majesty's Secret Service would've made the list but it's just too long (and feels too long) and Lazenby isn't one of my favorites.

Favorite Bonds:

1. Pierce Brosnan
2. Roger Moore
3. Sean Connery
4. Daniel Craig

and the rest

I like a man who bucks the system by only including every Brosnan and Craig Bond film in his top (00)7 favorites.

As for the casting news of Leá Seydoux:

We're probably all going to be disappointed. Bond 24 will most likely continue the Craig tradition of killing off the secondary girl in each of his films. So there's a very good chance that "femme fatale" means "she's toast and doesn't have much screen time" (see also: Solange, Strawberry Fields, Sévérine).

His movies really do reflect the psychopathic, misogynist Bond of Fleming's novels.

It's an incredibly cool film and I think it has had a lasting impression on the series for not only the characters, but for the golden gun.

I did not like OHMSS, though. It is way too long and feels so out of place.

Which is why they are good.

As to Leá, she can torture me anytime she wants.

OHMSS is perhaps the most accurate portrayal of Bond in the history of the franchise. It's Bond exactly how Fleming wrote him to be.

Just prefer the films, that's all.

That and the fact that I'm a Brosnan fanboy.

Eh, I guess if you really love Fleming's version of the character, I'd agree. For myself, despite being a huge, lifelong Bond fan, the books were almost never better than the movies for me. But then I like Roger Moore so what do I know? lol

My list has his first 2 movies in it and he's still my favorite.

Sean Connery being in OHMSS is the biggest "What If?" scenario in the entire Bond franchise. It would've been grand.

I honestly can't see Connery playing the more romantic and vulnerable Bond in OHMSS. Connery was too machine like and lacked any kind of vulnerability. Everything just rolls off his shoulders. Lazenby, even if was just for one film, was perfect for the film he was in.

My top 5 would be all Connery, so I won't bother.

I like all the movies on some level. There are definitely stinkers like Die Another Day, View to a Kill and Quantum of Solace, but even those are enjoyable for me on some level. I hated making Jaws a good guy in Moonraker though, that and Die Another Day's CGI surfing are probably my two most hated moments in the series.
