Default Damn Restricted WiFi!!!

So i got remote play to finally work like it was intended. I tested it from another hotspot and my PS3 turned on like a champ and worked flawless. I was so excited i ordered the PS3 eye and a WD 250GB passport drive to upgrade my current 40GB PS3. Here is where the fun begins..... I get to work and go to connect to remote play and discover that it will not work!!!!!! I tried to access playstation.com and it blocks it as well, i talked to an IT guy and he said that anything like that (remote play) will be blocked by the hospitals wifi. This really sucks but at least i can use it when i visit my parents back home or when i am at a friends house.

I think your hatred is somewhat misdirected.

well remote play pushed me to buy the eye and a new hard drive. i am not that dissapointed because the idea is very nice and it works great if the wifi is not restricted. My post is to help someone else if they want to try remote play from a work place and invest more money into their PS3.

I tried remote play at my friends house the other week and it worked like crap. There was like a 3 second delay so I had to count the taps on the d-pad so I could get to the right position on the XMB.

It turned out my friend was downloading tons of crap though, which i'm sure aided the undesired effect. I also noticed once or twice it failed connection to my PS3 and gave an error. I am going Milton Keynes this Friday and Mcdonalds (Xscape) has a wireless connection there, I will try it and see what happens.

To be honest we need more wireless access points. In my area there are none.

Of course wifi access is restricted - would you really want someone else using your wifi connection without permission? Hotspots are a different story as they're usually supplied by phone companies rather than private individuals and local businesses or public facilites.
