Default Can someone help me get my PS3 to connect WiFi

I had it connected about 6 or 7 months ago at my old house but we have since moved. I am very computer illiterate and a friend set up all the functions for me last time. I have a LinkSys wireless router. When I try to connect it scans and finds my connection and then when I do the test it starts looking for the IP address and then fails. If I plug in the Ethernet cable it will connect. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!

Is your wifi secure? (i.e., do you have to provide a WEP/WPA key to connect?)

If that's the case, you must enter that key after you select your connection)

The problem may be with the router. How far away is it from your PS3? Are you running 2.4 ghz cordless phones in your house? Because that is the same frequency as your router.

How old is your router?

We dont have any phones in the entire house besides cells. We dont even have phone line service in the house. The router is right about 2 years old. It is about 12-15 feet away from the PS3. My Wii connects fine with no problems and is about 3 ft farther away, not to mention my laptop connects fine and it is about 60 feet away from the router.

Im not sure what a shared network is but I think from my answer that is not the case here.

Still trying though and so far thanks to everyone who is trying to help!
