Has anyone had trouble playing 500 Days of Summer?
Would only load initial fox logo and it would stutter all the way through about 5 trailers and then it would never load the main menu.

Default Warner Bros discs

So after the newest firmware update (2.09), no Warner Bros blu-ray discs work anymore (The Hangover included). The discs freeze while trying to load the menu. That Spinning CD graphic freezes and the whole player locks up. These discs all play fine on non-samsung players.

Samsung has told me it's a hardware issue, which is BS, since the problem is only with Warner Bros discs. My only options from Samsung are 1) Send it in for Service Repair for $160, which is more than half the cost of the player when I got it.. and 2) Deal with it.

F*** Samsung.

It certainly is firmware 2.09 fault´s. I tried The Hangover on my sister´s player (which is BD-P1600, just like mine, but with older firmware) and it works just fine!
On the other hand, I remember playing The Lord of the Rings discs and they work fine, so I don´t think there´s a problem with every Warner Bros discs. But just for the sake of it, I´m gonna try a couple other WB discs as soon as I get home.

Default Wb

"The Informant!" still works, the rest of the Warner Bros discs I've tried? Nope. And they all worked before Firmware 2.09. They all crash right before the menu.

Default Firmware Rollback procedure

Supposedly there is a way to go back to an older firmware...I myself have not updated to 2.09, but have seen this on another site....IF anyone can confirm the procedure, would be nice..

1-Have an older firmware version on a USB key ready
2-Reset the player by holding Fastforward or Skip depending on your model (12xx/15xx/1600/3600/4600)
3-When the unit restarts, select your language
4-Insert the usb key and proceed with updating

IF anyone tries this, post if it was successful.

I don´t have any of the older firmware to try and do this. But I guess it works, as I´ve read about some people doing so.

About Warner discs, I tried a couple other and they all worked: The Dark Knight, Watchmen Ultimate Cut, Harry Potter 1,2,4 and 5 and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. So far, my only problem is The Hangover. Don´t have any other Warner discs to try though.

Default Firmware Downgrade

I cannot get this to work. I found the download of 2.07 and tried this, but it just told me there was an error with the file. Maybe I had a bad file?

Maybe you have the file for a different country. Each country has its own code, like XAX or XAA.

This time the firmware has rendered half my collection, AVCHD on dual layer dvd useless. I tried resetting the machine to factory defaults by booting it up and pressing the FF for 5-10 seconds. That didn't help. I tried putting older firmware on a USB stick and updating that way but the player comes up with an error message. Any idea's or is this thing now a doorstop to me?
Hi guys,
I own the bd-p1600 for about a year now and love(d) it. I recently started burning my own avchd dvds and did one which was dual layer (8.5gb) and it worked fine. I then went and created another one, only this time, when i insert it, the setup menu pops up. So I called tech support, and they checked everything and said my firmware was a version old, so had me update my firmware. After doing that, not only the dual layer dvd that didnt work still doesnt work, also the one that did doesnt work. For the one that did, i get a pop up box saying "this cd is not playable"

Maybe its the brand of the dvd +R DL i am using. Does anyone have experience in burning DL dvds and watching them on your bd-p1600?

Looking forward to hearing from anyone.

Gil

I really hope next firmware update will fix this.
So far I only had trouble with The Hangover, but I have a couple of new WB titles coming and I´m kind of worried if it´s gonna work or not.

Default Found a fix for the wb freezing issue...revert

http://www.mediafire.com/?xc1xmmzwtrj

I found a way to get around the freezing issue with WB discs after firmware update 2.09, download the above file and extract it to a usb flash drive, make sure your player has no disc in it, turn it on and insert the usb flash drive, the player should automatically recognize the file. upgrade(downgrade) to version 2.08, after I did this, (only took 5 minutes) I was able to play Clash of the Titans and The Losers, 2 titles I was not able to play before.

If you call samsung they will tell you there is no way to revert the firmware, that is a boldfaced lie. and they will also tell you that version 2.09 does not have these issues, that too is a fabrication. from this point on I will not be updating this players firmware until I can't play discs on it again.

Plus from what I heard, Samsung wants up to 160 dollars to repair the unit. There IS NOTHING WRONG with it, the firmware is faulty. Just an FYI to everyone.

PS, I am not responsible for anything that may go wrong, just trying to help. this is for the Samsung BD-P1600 unit only!!!

Good find!

Question....the p1600 and 1590 are essentially the same unit correct? If so, I will download this and keep in a safe place just in case I need it in the future.

not a problem, I just don't think anyone should have to pay for a repair that probably won't work anyway.
