It's just what he/she believes. People have had that outlook on life for hundreds of years. I don't believe that humans are supposed to "tame" the planet, but if someone believes that, I don't really have any right to tell them what they should or shouldn't believe.

but, I've rambled on for far too long, I'm not trying to bring my own personal politics etc. into this. I just felt rather underwhelmed with the movie and didn't enjoy it very much. But I do thank you for so thoroughly explaining your point of view on the movie man. Cheers

Well, I personally don't think highly of the movie, and won't even get it on BD.

Your views are just unbelievable!

That's why I chose to never go to the military!

I hope you will wake up one day and realize ......

exactly, and btw, I meant no disrespect in our little debate, just explaining my points of view and if you were offended in any way I do apologize. Wasn't trying to do the whole "I'm right and you're wrong A$$hole!!!!" argument. Wasn't in any way riled up and hope you weren't as well. I can be a bit passionate at times and the internet is never a good conveyor of emotions and meanings many times.

It's a french expression, it means at no point do you seen any pixel shift, or banding. When the compression is visible it's a "fart" meaning suddenly your otherwise perfect Blu starts to stink and the portrait is tarnished.

I didn't think it was possible, but this attempt at a serious explanation of the expression just made it even FUNNIER

If you're a Prime member then Amazon is doing release date delivery for this movie. Meaning you will have it ON release day, which is Thursday...if you have Amazon Prime that is.

I usually don't get so annoyed where I feel the need to say anything......But will the military kid PLEASE shut up? I appreciate the military as much as everyone else, but these people are the same people who bashed all over "The Hurt Locker" on amazon.com's reviews because OH IM A SOLIDER AND THIS SUCKS, and now you're bashing a sci-fi movie? I'm sure some military infantry soldier is going to set his sights on Star Wars and King Kong next to tell us that from a solider's point of view, a giant ape would never attack the city
From a "citizens point of view" no one cares more than you do about your "high treason theory"

ENJOY THE MOVIE. I have no idea why people are harping about realism in a movie that takes place on a foreign planet where a human becomes part of another alien race....SERIOUSLY?

dude, I had an opinion. if you noticed I very honestly said that I wanted to hear the other guys opinion on why he enjoyed the film. I NEVER once said that "the movie is a pile of garbage and that anyone who enjoys this crap is stupid" or anything like that. We were politely explaining our points of view to each other. The military people who didn't like Hurt Locker had a valid point too. As military personnel they couldn't jive with the story because of the inaccuracies. I have parents in law who are both 30 year police officer veterans and can't stand the CSI shows because they know the true duties of a CSI person. Nothing wrong with that, It's their prerogative. I'm sure there are things in movies that drive you nuts being that you have more intimate knowledge on the subject than the people who created the movie. And to all the people who enjoyed Avatar... That's fine. Enjoy it. I for one enjoy the crap out of Armageddon although their are TONS of people who SHRIEK at the scientific inaccuracies in that movie. Movies are all about personal taste. I stated a few reasons on why I didn't enjoy the movie and a debate on why was formed. Nothing more. Oh, and if you noticed, the only reason I explained that I was from a military family (Hell everyone but my older brother has served at one time or another) was because I was explaining why I had a natural affinity to the military in the movie, nothing more.

and I explained in a previous post, Treason was a poor choice of words, it was the first phrase my brain latched onto as I was typing. Basically all I had meant in that statement is that the military commander in a real situation would have had him executed or court martialed out their on the planet (being that they were Mercs execution would have been more likely). Simple observation. If I am correct this is an "Avatar" discussion thread, I had a negative point of view instead of a positive one, doesn't make it any less invalid, just makes it different than a lot of peoples view point on the movie. If everyone had the same ideas the world would be a pretty boring place.

I saw Avatar in 3D twice and loved it. The 2D Blu-ray will be a dissapointment. They need to include a "old-school" 3D option with the paper glasses, because most people don't (and won't) have a "new-style" 3D TV.
