Unfortunately, it's painfully obvious that Codemasters shipped this game out too early because of the impending MW2 release.
I keep thinking and reading comments about how much promise and potential this game has if it had been fully completed (and bug tested). 11 campaign missions? That is far too short.
What happened to being able to drive/fly all these vehicles. Yeah, there's a glitch that allows you to fly the Cobra and drive all the vehicles, but why wasn't this included in the game?

The audio in this game really shines though. The graphics, while not a deal breaker, remind me of a pc game from 5-10 years ago...

I would return it. There's just not "enough" in this game to warrant $60. Either rent it, or wait till the price drops to pick up this one. I've had fun playing it, but couldn't help but feel disappointed overall when I was done with the campaign.
I hate to "bash" this game, but it's frustrating to only get a glimpse of how great this game could be...

11 Campaign missions + 6 Short Single player Missions (seek my bonus code post)

Im not quite impressed with pvp yet, but that really concentrated around the people who were playing it, people had too much a hard on for unlimited spawns which to me is, just silly and waste of time. Restricted is where it is at.

Online Co op with buddies is fun, sometimes you really need to be careful, getting too familar with the enemies is a good way to get a bullet in the head in this game.

Im pretty impressed with the game overall though.

Suggestion which might sound bad, on the motar mission shoot both allied gunships down then take the AT out like normal and then repair a gunship and you get a free gunship to play the rest of the mission with.

I actually distrust reviews like this because generally speaking people who say that prefer faster games like COD.

Yeah I wouldn't take his review to be worth anything then lol

That said though, the reviews on this thread and on other forums are discouraging. I would say that if you paid full price ($50-60) then return it and wait for a drop. If you got it for $40 or through the TRU B2G1 then it's probably worth keeping given your playstyle. It's hard to say though. Given the lack of attention this game has gotten the price will probably drop fast. Especially when COD:MW2 comes out. This game could be a Black Friday contender.

hmm well its one of those games you either like it or you don't.

If you are looking for high octane super fast forward power rangers perhaps this game is wrong for you.

Me and Antony-Kwok did a almost full play through of the game together, havent had a chance to play with wreck yet, but one crazy one where the enemy leader is believed to be doing a inspection, we followed the guy around at each spot trying to get a fully ID on him.. sadly we never could get a full face ID on him so instead we gave him some nice anti material rifle to the face as we performed far out sniper manuvers from a high mountain.

We sniped from different angles with thermal scopes leaving the enemy confused, as they attempted flanking manuvers, Anthony called them out though and I had a spare assault rifle for giving myself cover fire wile Antony-Kwok suppressed them.

Course that mission didn't end well with me I had the brillian idea of driving a truck to the extraction point using the roads, the enemy patrol made our truck seize we evacuated and the fuel cooked off after a couple of seconds.. and I was disorinted trying to find cover.. when a shot hit my character straight in the head...

Im down, as Antony-Kwok layed smoke grenades and made his escape up the hill the rest of the team had already been wiped it was just him as he made his escape to the extraction point.

I most certainly do enjoy playing this game! The approach in which you play each mission is deliberate and calculating. It is slow paced for a reason. For me, that's what makes this game great.

Unfortunately there's a flipside to what makes it great. Because I took my time in deciding the best approach(usually through trial and error) for each mission, the single player missions will not have much replayablity for me. The number of campaign plus "bonus" missions still make me think this was rushed and too short. I didn't feel like I got a $60 game. I kept waiting for missions in which I'd get to use a gunship, or tank, or apc, or AA vehicle, or boat, or get to choose my weapon and my squad's loadout...
Perhaps I'm just being too hard on it?

I guess I need to give multiplayer more of a chance. The half dozen times I played online where either buggy or just flat.

Its everything I wanted, to be honest and less buggy then the original which had tractors flying into space from nearby explosions *spining too*.

(Bohemia fixed that eventually lol.. alongside tanks jumping into the air..)

No it ain't perfect but nothing is actually broken and certainly nothing that can't be tuned out with a little elbow grease.

Funny enough the more I play it the more the friendly AI susprise me, none behold me I was never aware how powerful the move command was.

Try pointing directly at a wall and issue a move command to your entire squad and watch what they do...

Im also been susprized on how many times I fell into a enemy AI ambush that was disguised as a retreat.

Unfortunately I can't give a date until QA has completed their testing. But the patch does contain improvements and fixes to numerous online issues. For example, the bullets not registering when you shoot someone problem.

Default Update on Patch

Some issues were raised in the meeting resulting in us not being able to release the list today I'm afraid.

This won't result in any delay in the patch, but it does mean it will be early next week until I can release the final fix list.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Initially today would be the day they were going to release the patch list but they decided to delay that till next week to give the patch list, obviously it was not ready to be finalized.

Right then just wanted to clarify what was said via PM.

Someone asked me if there will be a way to explore the island in future without having to use the well-known glitch that on occasion doesn't even work. I responded that we are working on a way of making this possible and that we'll be putting out further details soon. From what I have been told though, there will not be any enemies present around the island and it will purely be a chance for console users to use a variety of vehicles to explore the island.

However, I do know the team are looking into the possibility of adding a free-roam mission with enemies present throughout the island in the future, so your feedback on what you would like to see in a true free-roaming mission with enemies present would be good to see.

In fact is looks like someone has already started a thread up where you could post some ideas.

Default Skirmish DLC pack and title update announcement

http://community.codemasters.com/for...d.php?t=394543
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVAtAio1ytE

Quote:
We are happy to announce that the first Operation Flashpoint®: Dragon Rising downloadable content – the ‘Skirmish’ pack – will be available for PC tomorrow, November 5th, bundled with a title update patch.

Title Updates for the console editions of the game will arrive prior to the launch of the ‘Skirmish’ DLC pack on Xbox LIVE and PSN. The Title Update for the Xbox 360 will be available tomorrow, November 5th, with the Title Update for the PS3 to follow shortly.

The ‘Skirmish’ video, available to view above showcases some of the new content available. Players are shown going head to head in attack helicopters, deploying tanks and APCs and engaging in ranged and close quarters combat in the wide ranging new maps and missions featured in the downloadable content.

The ‘Skirmish’ DLC features four new multiplayer maps and two new Fire Team Engagement (FTE) missions featuring both solo and four player co-operative play. Hunt down SAM launchers hidden in the sprawling complex of ‘Lumberyard’ and assault dug in PLA forces and fight room to room in ‘White Fang’, two tense new ‘Infiltration’ multiplayer maps. ‘Annihilation’ multiplayer maps pitch armour and infantry against each other in rolling battles across a valley in ‘Stomping Grounds’ and in ‘Force Dispersal’ military bases separated by a strategic hill become a close-quarters killing ground.

New FTE missions include ‘All Round Defence’, which places gamers in control of air support and attack helicopters as they defend a fortified complex against relentless waves of PLA. In ‘Uphill Struggle’ players must capture a bunker under heavy fire from hillside reinforcements. Gamers can also recon the entire 220 km² island of Skira alone or co-operatively in a range of vehicles at day or night in ‘Island Tour.’

Tomorrow’s title update/patch will include a range of updates and improvements for the multiplayer and single player modes of the game.

The ‘Skirmish’ pack will also be available on Xbox Live Marketplace (400 Microsoft Points) and the PlayStation Network (£3.19 / $3.99 / €3.99) shortly.
