Sorry, I'm not familiar with the Disney one. In my opinion the Spears & Munsil is the most thorough and user-friendly.

I'll use the money I saved NOT buying the Prequel Trilogy to buy another, BETTER fantasy saga... the Lord of the Rings: Extended Edition
I am only getting the Original Trilogy as well. Are there are extra features etc that you only get if you buy the whole saga?

This was followed by endless listening of the 2 record LP soundtrack! Drove my mother insane!

In spite of all the tweaks and changes Luke's taking in the Tatooine sunset to John Williams score still remains an iconic moment in Ep IV, moving and emotionally stirring!

I envy your having seen it at a Drive In!! Thx for sharing!!!
I was 8 years old when Star Wars came out and I remember being driven home in an Chevy Suburban in the back bucket seats pretending my friend and I were shooting down space ships.

Now that it is on blu Friday has been a day long awaited. For me this franchise is about escape from the world I live in now and a glimpse into the mind of a kid making laser sound in the back of a 1976 suburban.

Great, great, great "stuff" these films have to offer and I'm glad I can slip back in time for a brief time before the demands of life come pounding on my door again.

I too have issues with some alterations Lucas has made over the years but not to the point that it will ruin my dreams.

Can't wait.....................

I've been skimming this thread a lot. I remember someone replying to you recommending the Spears & Munsil disc.

Honestly, the Spears & Munsil disc blows the DVE HD disc out of the water! I have both and much prefer the S & M disc. It's fantastic!
I like the spears & munsil and the disney one better then the HD basic. both discs are alot easier to use.

Exactly, it gets really old. The "Sheep" analogy fits much better with LotR (not just because of New Zealand ) They are released over and over again and will be again (branching?) when the Hobbit hits cinemas...

He hasn't lost it. Audiences have just lost touch to the kind of cinema Star Wars always was. The prequels are in the spirit of Modern Myth, Kurosawa and the Flash Gordon Serials even more than the old ones were and Jar Jar is a classic character. In the 80s people would have adored him like Yoda, Chewbacca or E.T. The Zeitgeist has changed unfortunately - Lucas has just improved on the same formula he has always used.

I also was 8. My parents took me and my older sister to see it at the drive-inn theater. My sister and father feel asleep but my mother and I watched and loved the movie.

I get my love of sci-fi movies from my mother, she would sit at watch creature double feature movies with me every Sunday. My favorite was the Godzilla movies.

Great memories from a great time.

Yeah, the movie discs have two commentaries on them -- the scene-specific one that Lucas recorded with some of the techs, and another compiled from interviews.

All of the other extras are on the three "Bonus" Blu-ray discs, which only come in the "Complete" set.

Gotcha. Does the OT, if bought by itself, still have the extended scenes that were added?

You mean like the pod race bits that were added for the DVD release?

I believe so, but I haven't watched it myself, so hopefully someone else who knows for sure will chime in. I'm pretty sure the movie discs themselves are identical between the "Complete" set and the Trilogy sets -- the only difference in that sense is the three bonus discs.

IT was mentioned that the scene with Luke building his lightsaber etc that were added in the Return of the Jedi, would not be on the OT only discs. That sounded odd when i heard it.

Yeah the extended pod race is present. I belive its the same cuts as the DVDs except with some added tweaks to some of the films.

All you get with the seperate trillogy are the Audio Commentery tracks.

They are in the Deleted Scenes on the second bonus disc. They haven't been added back in to the film itself. So you won't get any of that with the individual trilogy.
