One need only look at Alien on Blu Ray to see just how good the OT could have looked had Lucasfilm put forth a little more time, effort, and money into the films.

Sure the Blu Rays are going to be better than their DVD and HDTV counterparts. But Special Editions and UOT debates aside, whichever version of the films we are getting are NO WHERE near what they could have been.

Expect a lot of positive reviews in the coming weeks as everyone gets caught up in the excitement and hype of the release. The same thing happened with the 2004 DVDs. A year down the line people will have a more realistic view of this release, just as people eventually did about the 04 DVD release.

I have been ordering from Amazon just about every week for probably 10 years now and i have had like maybe 3 or 4 times they missed their estimated shipping date and it was usually because of a huge storm tying up shipping or something like that but I do understand your trepidations though, this is a very important release.

Cancelled my Amazon pre-order and plan on getting it at Target @ 8am. My office is right next to a Target, so it works out great.

Is there a new Darth Vader helmet with the new "No..... Nooooooooooo" dialog yet?
No, but I heard that for the 3D and next home video release George Lucas is going to have Hayden Christensen go back and re-record all of Darth Vaders lines from Episodes IV-VI replacing James Earl Jones so the series will have more continuity.

UPS for me.

My UPS guy knows me by name he is here like 2 or 3 times a week and he is always here between 1:40pm and 2pm. I even give him a Christmas Card every year. lol

Why did you ever pre-order with Amazon?

I don't buy online. Actually, I've ordered three records and 1 blu-ray online, but the blu-ray was from free Amazon.ca gift cards I got by collecting points.

Anyways, I've always wondered why people order online when they are in close vicinity to a store like Target, Best Buy, Future Shop, HMV, etc.

I've heard tons of people say "well I cancelled my pre-order, but that's okay... I'll just go to __________ on my lunch break tomorrow!"

If you can walk to a store in 10 minutes and browse through to find the least "beat-up" box... why take the risk of having the thing shipped? Plus there's always the chance of shipping delays, but [INSERT STORE HERE] will always be open.

This isn't directed at you specifically Adam. I understand that sometimes you can save $5-10 on new releases online, but just me being me, buying online is always viewed kind of as a last resort.

I have a feeling my TV needs upgrading. It's LCD and about 3 years old. But I cnt get the drop shadow on the THX logo right. The brightness setting just doesnt get it to a point it should be, it's either too dark or too bright.

Does anyone know if there are any sort of special promotions or coupons that one can apply to this when buying it in store? I think I'd like to get it in store, but want to be sure there isn't a way to achieve additional savings...
Best Buy specifically.
