No 70s title.

One 1950s
Three 1960s
Three 1980s

That's it for this deal.

Are you including The Whistleblower with those 80s titles by any chance?

Hey KLI, I know John Wayne's The Alamo wasn't part of your current MGM deal but would it be possible if you did another deal with MGM? I read Robert Harris' article about the roadshow version being beyond repair but I would be happy just to get the Dvd version on blu. Or should I just give up hope on that, due to the state of the surviving prints ?

Recent telecasts of THE ALAMO (1960) on TCM have shown some improved color. At least for the "standard" version.

I do fear that the roadshow version is lost. It used to play on TCM occasionally, but more recent telecasts have been the better color but shorter cut of the film.

We've never confirmed THE WHISTLE BLOWER. Yes, THE WHISTLE BLOWER is one of the 80s titles.

Most of these will most likely be out in 2020. A few may come out in 2019.

We've tried to acquire the film, but so far, no luck.

The Roadshow version is not beyond repair. Just a very expensive repair job.

The latter is refreshing news. From everything, I read led me to believe it was beyond repair so this gives me hope.

I really hope there will be announcements of new titles on Saturday and Sunday, like the last few weeks as it's gonna be so hot here this weekend I'll be staying inside.

In theory, would Kino be willing to take on that expensive repair job?

I guess what I'm asking is, if Kino were to acquire it, would you settle for just the theatrical version, or want to include the Roadshow version in some capacity? At one point I mentioned perhaps constructing some kind of composite using the HD theatrical master and the best available source(s) for the Roadshow cut (SD inserts from the laserdisc?), but I've no idea how feasible that is (and I appreciate there will be a fairly drastic drop in quality during the Roadshow scenes).

I would bet that it's the DVD master of the short version and previously they would have run the Laserdisc master of the Roadshow version, much as TCM used to always show the Laserdisc exclusive long cut of It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World prior to the Criterion BD release.

People who weren't big fans of It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World weren't too happy about the quality of the Criterion roadshow version even though they gave plenty of warning. I LOVED it. If Kino could pull off something like that with The Alamo with both versions even if one is lesser quality, I think that would be a huge seller. Here's hoping Kino can work some more of that "magic" in their next potential deal.....

I've always wanted to check out the Roadshow cut, even with the less-than-optimal elements, but I love the "general" cut a lot that I have never really bothered upgrading my MGM Blu.

The general cut is by far the best. Everything that was cut made the film better in my opinion (just like Apocalypse Now) . If you have the MGM blu with all the extras your in good shape. I love the film so much I just have to have everything (including the MGM blu)...

KLI, according to their listings on streaming site Hoopla, Kino Lorber is the supplier of Joanna Hogg’s “Unrelated,” “Archipelago,” and “Exhibition.” Considering the critical acclaim accorded Hogg’s latest, “The Souvenir,” are there any plans for releasing her earlier work on Blu-ray, either as a set or as standalone releases?

Also: Johnnie To’s “Election” and “Triad Election” are listed, respectively, on Kanopy and Hoopla as being from Kino Lorber. Any Blu-ray plans for these, and if so, would they be from newer masters than the Hong Kong discs? Thanks!
