You said it! As long as they're providing regular updates I can't see it being mishandled.

Re-watching the TV series Sliders which has an even slimmer chance of being restored due to lack of popularity but wow I would love to see that show in HD. Season 3 where it all went downhill ironically has the best production values due to the increase in budget. It looks really cinematic.

I would love to see Sliders too, I started a rewatch a few years ago and got the end of S3, I should get back to this after my current Buffy/Angel rewatch.

Never saw past Season 3 as I don't believe the BBC aired it but was tempted to pick up the German Blu-ray release a few years ago when I was importing SeaQuest but wasn't sure if it was worth it being on SD on Blu-ray.

Season 3 was the ideal place to stop watching it, it went downhill hard after that.

The first season was brilliant. The second was pretty good, albeit a case of "which movie are they ripping off this week?", and the third whilst hit and miss did have some really good episodes. The only saving grace for the last couple of years was that Kari Wuhrer was (extremely) easy on the eyes.

Wait, there is a Sliders Blu-ray release in Germany?

It’s SD on BD, not real HD.

This is common for many TV shows in Germany. Putting on BD in SD means you need fewer discs and even as SD the compression on BD beats DVD.

You're right, they never did. I'm now forcing myself to get to the end of the show. I've ignored the later seasons for too long and while I know they're terrible I should watch them rather than replying on clips, plot synopsis etc.

Season 3 was where they ripped off movies. Season 2 was where everyone looks desperate and homesick but the writing is pretty good though different to Season 1 in tone.

Germany puts out tons of shows on blu-ray, not just live action but 80's cartoons have made their way to blu-ray in SD.

For Season 3 of Sliders they had the largest budget the show ever had. They had time to plan some episodes with storyboards which might explain why at least the first three episodes filmed have a movie quality in how the camera works. Most TV shows like Sliders back then have slightly disorganised but absolutely fine camera work.

Example from Season 2:

I have the SD on BD releases of Back to the Future The Animated Series, Ren and Stimpy and The Real Ghostbusters and IMO they are well worth the money, quality is SD obviously but the fewer discs and better compression really help not to mention BTTF has the extras in true HD whereas they are just SD on the DVD release.

Fist couple of Seasons were great of Sliders, it was pretty much Star Trek but instead of travelling to other worlds it was just endless versions of Earth. By the end of S3 things had taken a turn for the worse and S4 and 5 just never had the charm of the original seasons and the spirit of the show just changed too much. My Buffy watch is about to come to an end I should probably go ahead and do S3 and 4 of this.

In my opinion there are like five solid episodes of Sliders in Season 3:

Double Cross
Dead Man Sliding
The Guardian
The Prince of Slides
Season Greedings

The rest range from disappointing to terrible. The first half of the season is obviously the better. It's annoying because you get episodes like Desert Storm and Murder Most Foul which are pretty well written but don't belong in Sliders at all.
