Sometimes I wonder how people who haven't read the books not get confused. Did PoA ever explain the whole "Moody, Wormtail, Prongs, and Padfoot" situation? Last I saw, they simply showed the map but didn't explain its origins at all nor the names associated with it.

Order of the Phoenix might be my favorite book even though it's overlong. I agree about it feeling rushed. That David Yates directed that movie and gets to direct the next three blows my mind. He's the main reason I'm trying to have low expectations.

Correct -- and that meant the "stag" patronus that Harry conjures has no meaning other than some tricky spell in the films, when the whole point was that Harry's father spirit lives within him. I can't believe such an obvious emotional beat was cut from the film. I think it is the greatest adaptation blunder in the entire series. Just mind-boggling.

Are you implying Deathly Hallows might be better? Or that Deathly Hallows is even good? I'm so confused...

I'm implying about Half-Blood Prince being better compared to the other books, such as Deathly Hallows.

This is concerning me as well.
[Show spoiler]Considering it's known that they cut all but 2 of the Riddle flashbacks, it really makes me wonder how they can possibly explain what's coming in the Deathly Hallows, or if it'll be like the prior movies where they just don't bother to explain at all.

I liked Half-Blood Prince much better than Deathly Hallows. I thought it really built up tension
[Show spoiler]between Harry and Voldemort and really left you wondering what was going to happen. Kind of like Empire Strikes Back after Luke had just lost to Vader and Han was frozen in carbonite kind of feeling.

I think omitting the part where Lily comes to Snape's defense against James during the Occlumency flashback in OOTP is an even greater blunder.

The fact that Lily defended Snape against James is interesting, but it isn't vital to the telling of The Order of the Phoenix. The entire climax of Prisoner Azkaban revolved around Harry's Patronus charm and his discovery that his father's spirit lived within him. That's a pretty big emotional beat to eliminate.

Not vital to Order of the Phoenix, but vital to the entire saga since it
[Show spoiler]casts Snape's motivations in a whole new light and ultimately pays off in Deathly Hallows.
