Default Denon goes Blu: DVD-3800BDCI

From Gizmodo From the actual press release.

Quote:
Mahwah, NJ - July 24, 2007 -- Denon Electronics, a world leader in high-performance home entertainment products, today announced the upcoming introduction of two groundbreaking DVD products, the new reference-standard DVD-3800BDCI BD-ROM Profile 1 version 1.1 Blu-ray Disc Player and the DVD-2500BTC BD-ROM Profile 1 version 1.1 Blu-ray Disc Transport. The DVD-3800BDCI (SRP: $1,999) is the world's first BD-ROM Profile 1 version 1.1 Blu-ray Disc Player from a Blu-Ray Disc Association member featuring the acclaimed 10-bit Silicon Optix Realta chipset. It provides users with the highest resolution high-definition video available today via HDMI™ connection, as well as the ultimate in audio performance, including high-definition audio decoding and DDSC-HD audio output. The DVD-2500BTCI outputs audio and video signals and requires a connected audio/video receiver to do the decoding. Both BD-ROM Profile 1 version 1.1 Blu-ray units are slated to ship this fall.
Looks like Profile 1.1 is well under way.

Awesome. We'll just call this the Blockbuster Stance (tm) from now on.

Looks very nice! I imagine it will be a sweet player. I agree it will be funny to read what some of those AVS HD DVD kooks will be saying.

Another MAJOR manufacturer has now gone Blu. When will Toshiba wake up and see the writing on the wall. Anyone left defending and praying HD-DVD will somehow overcome the huge mountain that lies ahead is delusional.

It will be interesting how the new Denon suddenly magnifies the value of other Blu-ray offerings.

If you put the Panasonic, Pioneer Elite, or the upcoming Sony and Samsungs against this, how do they look from a price/performance standpoint?

I am waiting on the next gen Pioneer Elite blu-ray player and then I would really like to see how this unit compares to it, to see if it is worth the extra money.

well for the UK boys its better that you cant update via online.

Simple reason is Denon has always passed out Muti region Discs out the back door for people to hack there players. Now i doubt we will be able to hack BD but for SD-DVD i bet Denon will still let the players be hacked for Multi region use, and with realta onboard thats a must for euro peeps.
