I did get around to watching this movie and absolutely loved it, can't wait for the sequel. Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen were excellent. I saw it in Target yesterday for $14.99, not a bad price but was hoping to find it for like $9.99 (it's currently offered in a 2 for $20 pack at Wal-mart but the movie it's coupled with is "High Crimes" which I have no interest in owning).

However, now I'm wondering if they're possibly going to remaster and re-release it on blu-ray since the sequel is coming out in September. Has anybody heard of anything? I usually pay close attention to blu-ray announcements but so far have heard nothing.

Yep. I just stopped by my nearest Best Buy a little while ago, and it was 14.99. I decided to pick it up myself..

Saw the sequel the other night but it was disappointing. I'll just watch the original when I need my Gordon Gekko/Bud Fox fix, much better movie.

Definitely! The movie is fantastic and the Blu-ray has great features. The transfer looks a little dingy, but a lot of that is the source material. Get it with the free ticket to Wall Street 2.

I would rent it at most. Not as great as many seems to make it.It makes a solid point, but somewhat cheesy, and not very subtle.

Sure, it's a good movie, but it's not a classic. It's just a movie from the 1980s, not a classic. Don't buy the blu-ray. You will watch it once ever 13 years if you buy it. It's that type of film. Buy Oliver Stone's PLATOON on blu-ray. Now that's a classic that you can watch over and over.

I think its over rated. I saw at the movies. Its about corporate greed. Enron, Milken, etc.. Its not an action movie, its about the stock market and inside deals and morales. It was from when Michael Douglas was at his peak with movies like Romancing the Stone and Fatal Attraction, Black Rain and Jewel of The Nile. Plus it was notable in that the Sheens were both in it, a first I believe.

Uh, you mean import it from Japan? Because Platoon is not out on Blu in this part of the world. Now JFK and Any Given Sunday are Oliver Stone movies I have on Blu and watched more then once.

I honestly love the movie. So I'd say it's absolutely worth a blind buy. It's a slow boil movie though, so if you don't like a good drama with no action it may not interest you.

I have the Region A Hong Kong blu-ray of Platoon. It's one of my favorite imports!

For 15 bucks yes. I found it very interesting. Unfortunately the sequel wasn't even NEAR as good.

You have to remember the 80s. Regan was president. He cut the tax rate down. The highest tax rate before he lowered it was around 50% and I believe he dropped it to the upper 30s. Miami Vice was on. People were thinking, if I could just make 50k a year, I would be set for life. You got paid less but the cost of living wasn't as much. The first cell phones came out, the DeLorean cars. And there were the big scandals on Wall Street. If you wanted to make money, you were told you had to invest. So to show the greed of those on Wall Street at that time, its a good time capsule.
