the only way i would buy a display model or demo TV is if i knew the exact hours of play it had already used. In addition a free or discounted warranty.

If you can get a free extended warranty and the price of the unit is greater than 50% off what you would normally be willing to pay for the set then you should go for it. I got my receiver for 75% off retail because it was a floor model. My father got his TV the same way for 70% off retail. His TV stopped working after a year and a half. 6 months after the manufacturer warranty. He was sure happy he had the extended warranty. He got a brand new upgraded model since his model was already discontinued for free.

After work today I stopped by Sears and took a look at their tv's and they had a Samsung LN46B650 floor display model for sale. When I worked there it was was there and I inquired about buying it and putting it on Layaway. First they want $1400.00 and to put it on layaway I would have to pay $285 every two weeks. Now I said its too much of a risk to buy a used floor model tv but I am thinking about buying the LN46B650 and putting it on layaway. Why? Because I think the TOC design is beautiful and the PQ is simply amazing. I know its a risk but I am really giving it a thought.

Buying a display model is like playing Russian roulette with a hand grenade.

I suggest you don't ever put electronics on layaway. If you feel you must then put it on "layaway" with yourself and put that $285 a month into a savings account and once you have saved up the amount buy whatever is current or get your original electronic at a much lower price. Electronics get updated to often and drop price just as often to put on traditional layaway.

I have scrubbed that idea Mordir. I am sticking with what I have and focusing on a surround sound system and a PS3. Its too much of a risk for me plus my KDL46V5100 is a very good tv so why would I do it anyway? I'll stick with what I have and save up the money for what I really want.

Two things I'd never do... buy a car from a rental agency.. buy a TV off the showroom floor.

I would never even consider buying a TV off of the showroom floor.

that's funny....i just left a sears near my house here in new england....they have the same exact floor model they are trying to sell...this was also a customer return....but it had a tag on it that said original price $1899....now $1099...the sales guy also went to his supervisor, and came back to tell me they cold take $100 off that....30 now it's down to $999....if i get a sears card i can get an additonal 10% off....
that would bring it down to $899...sounds like a good deal, but i am still skeptical on samsung

I was told at the Sears store I went to that after taxes and so fourth the Samsung LN46B650 would come to $1800.00!!! For a floor model??? I asked if she could drop the price a little being that its a floor model and she said no and I said "Then keep it!". Too much of a risk so sticking with my Sony. End of story.
