means nothing - not to offend anyone here that may work at best buy or CC, but all their employees that I have met, know nothing about what they sell. Now employees at like Ultimate Electronics are at least a little bit trained on their products. Toshiba has nothing to do with the teenagers that work at those 2 places. I find it funny that if I ask someone there about a DVD player or rcvr or something they have to read the box. I CAN DO THAT!

Circuit City does not have commisioned employees. There are no Spiffs either. The only people that get bonuses are managers, and that is for meeting/exceeding monthly budget goals.

The BDA should do two things.

1. PRINT BROCHURES for the displays. How much is that going to cost?
2. SEND fake buyers out to stores. If a store gives them the HD-DVD line corporate gets involved. No one at a store wants that hanging over their head. Let everyone know that the fake buyers are out there.

The wasted time, effort, materials and salaries when the brochures end up like 99% of other brochures. Taken and never read.

I have no idea what that's supposed to do.....

CC has had major financial difficulties this past 18 months. They still sell BD software but not many players at my store. I prefer BB over CC. CC has had some good prices on stuff recently.
CC logo is red. hddvd claims that their cases are red. They look brown to me.
BB logo is Tru Blu. BB will go with BD.

That is were we come in. Not just the blu-bloods, but all members here. Start bringing up blu-ray in casual conversation. Tell them of the quality over HD-DUD, moreover the movie selection. Selection is a major marketing stratagy and we must exploit it in order not to loose any innocents in this format war.

I work at BBY (part time on weekends) But I am sure that I know my shit. It doesn't offend me that you have better experiences else where, but I can assure that it was never at my store, because I am the who trains our HT guys. They also know there shit. I am just trying to defend my store/company. I promise you that I could hold my own just as well as Ultimate.

Has to be the ugliest color I have ever seen for a case. A brighter red would be much more appealing. Not that it will help them sell so much. It looks like Toshiba swallowed a blu-ray case and shat it out. Must be the same way they came up with HD-DVD discs.

Don't mind me... just war mongering.

As someone who left the CC company in May and worked in the TV area I will tell you this. CC has many REPS from differnt companies that will come in and spread "propaganda" to the sales associates, the dumb ones fall for this hook line and sinker and will only promote products the REPS tell them to. Now it was the job of the people "who cared" to try and steer these lost souls back into the world of reality. I always promoted blu when I would recomend a high def player, it had the studio support and people loved our demo disc's that we had playing and the movies we had playing also. It does suck that "senior" associates will have an impact on newbies at the stores as well and if the "senior" associates likes HD-DVD you better believe that is what everyone else will push. GRRRRRR! retail make eRICH angry, retail won't like it when eRICH gets angry......(This is when I turn into the HULK but with blu skin)

Well, I am already taking my brother and his wife by December to get a Blu-Ray stand alone player and have been spreading the word here at my office in Manhattan. I am going to help my tia eventually as well so she doesn't get fooled into buying HD-DVD and wasting her $.

This is the same CC that was pimping and whoring DivX like mad back in the day.

At least they're consistent.

The Circuit City in my neighborhood (The Woodlands, Texas) always has kids that look like they're about 15 working on the floor. Probably 17 or 18 but look younger. They know very little about the products they sell. I was in there last year asking about tv contrast ratios and they were looking at me like I had just asked them to explain life in 20 words or less using theoretical physics terms and a Rubix Cube. If you purchase something they can tell you about 15 minutes worth of info about the warranty plan, however. Best to research on the internet before shopping for big ticket items. Don't rely on accurate info from any salespeople.

I went to FYE and asked if they had blades of glory on BD when it first came out...

she led me to the direction and said here it is...we have it on HD DVD...

I said "yeah, I guess you don't have it on blu-ray?"

and she'd like oh, no...we only have it for HD DVD...

she is probably just ignorant to the matter completely...

I think that it is usually either ignorance or personal preference...not what they are getting paid...

Even if they do know something they often make more money by being misleading or by outright lying.
Good salespeople know the truth but only speak it when it increases their sales.

My question is why would they be doing that unless $ is going around paying people off? We have Target behind us so is Toshiba doing the same with Circuit City?
I doubt it, but my experience lately is that associates at CC are morons. w/that said, I USED to work there years ago (only about 10-25% moron then) - and CC DID try that s&*t then w/their Divx product - they artificially inflated commissions on their players and left DVD players low. Being that (i think) CC doesn't pay commissions anymore, my vote is on the morons.......
