Thumbs down Get lost!

I can see that you are one of the cheapskate/pro-piracy crowd that flocks to HD DVD.

Fox (and other movie studios) have every right to protect their content as they have invested millions of dollars in capital to create these films and TV shows for our enjoyment.

And no, you do not have the right to rip (and burn = steal) so you can play them from "back-up" copies.

And don't bother coming to our site because you won't get a very warm reception with your attitude. Get lost.

And so...I enjoyed this post, but the one thing I enjoyed more was in your Signature...."Friends don't let friends buy HD DVD" HAHAHA

the username isn't exactly subtle though.

blu r.i.p.?

yeesh. if they were coming here for intelligent discourse, one would think they'd at least pick a name that's not vaguely offensive.

I don't understand how BD+ is "an anti consumer move." BD+ does not prevent anyone from legally purchasing or renting a movie or watching it.

I'll admit I "back up" dvd movies and am somewhat of a cheapskate. But I decided to buy blu-ray because it is the superior format. I'm sure that blu-ray will be able to be backed up one day. Hackers always beat the system.
But right now I'd rather support blu-ray buy buying discs. You are not supporting hddhvd by copying them

I don't consider that pirating either. Why post though?

You want to complain about BD+ on Blu-Ray and say that is why you will not buy Blu-Ray? Much like this thread, it isn't going anywhere.

What I'm saying is, consumers shouldn't be held accountable for making backup copies of the movies they bought. It's the thieves who re-distribute movies to the public without authorization that should be held accountable because they are the ones who are taking the profits away from the movie studios.
Disney has a disc replacement service, even for OOP stuff. You register your disc with them and $10 gets you a replacement down the line.

Blurip hasn't really replied recently...

"backing up" a disc is useless. Watching High Definition content on a computer seems retarded, unless it is a 42" monitor. The fact that Blu-rays cannot be pirated is leading to more studio and CE support. I am all for copy protection. Because people who steal go to hell and watch HD DVD with Hitler.

Blurip,

MMC (Mandatory Managed Copy) is something that will be supported on both formats...we still await any type of logical reply from you as to your thought process on BD+...and I'm afraid we'll be waiting...and waiting...

Actually, Blu-ray Discs can and have been cracked. Blu-ray Disc with BD+ technology is new and is uncrackable at the moment.

What do you think this is? Burger King? You can't have it your way. Toshiba, Sony, Fox, or anybody else putting there name on expensive technology doesn't care if you can't put your favorite movies on a server. You still have yet to give a reason for this. I imagine it is out of convienence to you and only you. Stop picking your nose, and take the extra 10 seconds to open the case and put it into your player. DONE! Holy Bovine Crap! I just solved your problem. There is no real reason to back up your movies, except for disposable convenience. Get over it girly-man.

Plus, Sony is releasing a Blu-ray server!!! except it is probably too expensive for your HD DVD budget.

You're not allowed to "back up" HD DVDs either!

Simple as that. Your entire complaint is predicated on the fact that you can't do something that is technically illegal. In other words, you're upset because a couple discs from one format isn't allowing you to do something that you shouldn't be doing anyway.

obviously you're pretty much looking for reasons to not go blu, so more power to you. enjoy HD DVD and your wonderful online downloads when HD DVD tanks.
