I'm not going to talk you out of it. As a matter of fact, I highly recommend that you buy it. This is the one I chose for myself as well, but I have too many expenses this month. November however is a different story.

Luckily I live near Delaware so I usually buy my more expensive items down there. No sales tax. I sent this Phil guy an email so hopefully he'll get back to me.

It is only Elite that is not able to be sold on the internet. If you donot believe me call there authorized online dealers and see if you can get an Elite from them. Also notice that none of them are listed as Elite dealers even though some of them sell the Elite line they only do in in store.

Can anyone confirm what kind of warranty comes with these Elite receivers? From what I've read, purchasing only from an authorized dealer will get you the 2 year warranty. Is this true? Made up? What does this retailer say? I've had my eye on this receiver for a while now and if I can be guaranteed some kind of warranty, I'll pull the trigger on the 94.

You get a 1 year limited on the 91 and a 2 year limited on both the 92 and 94.

By the way, the 92 and 94 are virtually indentical in features, so unless you need a slightly higher Wattage or one more HDMI input, I'd advise against spending an extra $200 on the 94.

sweet!! so you bought the elite 92, let me know how you like it once you have it set up. how was the buying expirience with greg? so you got it for $799 plus $51 for shipping? i am deciding between the 91 and the 92 elite models, but at this price point it is very tempting to grab the 92 model.

congrats on the purchase

I know that is the written warranty that Pio provides but I've been reading numerous accounts that Pio won't back up the warranty if you need repair and you can't provide a receipt for purchasing it with an authorized online etailer.
Now most of this is hearsay but is it true? Has anyone actually tried to file a warranty claim and failed because they bought it from a non-authorized retailer. (like the one mentioned in this thread or ebay or wherever)

actually when do you really need the warranty. i have owned numerous different receivers in the past and many different name brands and i have never had to file a warranty claim before. receivers dont usually have issues.

ok i have a question:

if you have a receivers like the elite 92 that upscales dvd's and a blu ray player that upscales, are there any conflicts with having both able to upscale?

which Bluray players can upscale to 1080p now? panny, elite 95 ??

Are you serious? You may have never had to file a claim before because you are lucky. Many people haven't been as lucky. A good warranty protection gives peace of mind. What happens 6 months from now when the receiver won't turn on? Are you just going to pay to fix it or buy another one? You wouldn't have to with a proper warranty which would allow you to take it to an authorized repair shop for free repair or possibly ship back to Pioneer for a new one if the situation warranted it.
Would you buy a new car w/out a warranty?
It's your choice if you don't care about a warranty. I don't think you are going to get much agreement with that position.

i think you took me wrong on this one. what i meant is how often do you really use a warranty on a receiver? i have never. yes i know warranties are important and yes i get them on all my electronics pretty much or i mail in the registration cards for the factory warranty.

my point was that receivers hardly even break down, usually it's your tv or your dvd player, etc. for me it is a must on any tv to buy the extended warranty they offer at the stores. it has saved me alot of money on 2 different tv's i have owned. i had a samsung dlp 2 years ago that had 2 light engines replaced and $1200 a pop, by the the 3rd one BB gave me a new tv of my choice which is the one in my sig.

so with that said i am not against warranties, just have never had to use one on a receiver before.

Honestly, I don't of one person myself and my friends included who ever had to have a Pioneer receiver serviced before. I guess we're all very lucky.
