Doesnt matter how well Transformers those, remember for every 1 title we got another as well, 2:1 ratio. I doubt they hd dvd guys will get another title, even they do, c'mon i was reading yesterday people were buying like CRAZY blu rays, NO WAY in units total Transformers can win this week. NO WAY

Even if Blu doesn't win the Nielsen's, all of us here who were able to get in on these great deals are the big winners. These sales probably would not have taken place without Transformers going to HD-DVD exclusively.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have Transformers on Blu with lossless audio. But, with all these great deals that I've been able to get, I don't feel like having to wait for 16 months for Transformers to be a bad trade-off at all.

Be cool! Be happy!

I don't fear TF, HD DVD only BOGOs are more likely a threat to come

And I am sure they will be countered. Plus, our sales are better, there are more BD owners and players. So even if they have one week with good sales, we will still be on top!

FYI... On the other forum it has been posted that the Circuit City bogo special works for all HD Media (Blu-ray & HD-DVD) priced under $30.

These sales show that good media prices will drive sales. But as to blu winning Transformers week as the OP said, we'll just have to wait and see...

Even if Transformers takes the sales crown this week, any good market analyst will stop and look at the ONE title that can lead a single sales week. Then reflect on the other crappy 51 weeks for HD DVD, and conclude that HD DVD cannot release Transformers everyweek.

Don't fear it...embrace it! I'm sure we'll see more sales if this happens, maybe even lower prices as HD-DVD gets more desperate.

The other forum also said that there wasn't a receiver under $900 that did Dolby HD - AND that uncompressed audio didn't matter...

I am actually very curious to know if this promotion is active at CC for HD-DVD as well... I am hoping not.

I was reading also that some of those Self Proclaim HDdvd only, came out of the closet and bought some blurays, even some got converted into what they are calling purple, and boy those hd dvd forums were pretty rude yesterday because of this.

If it is, it doesn't matter much since no one even knows about it. The empolyees were still confused on the BD sale.

It's sad (for HD-DVD supporters I mean), stats look great all year for Blu-ray, and they only get too look good one week out of a year. That will probably be enough for them to brag for a while ...sad.

...but we get to brag every other week

It was nice to see that the local Best Buy finally expanded the BD section to a full 4' shelf (top to bottom) for BD. Add in the standie that they have BD is stocked 2:1 for HD there. But still, no signage of the sale.

My guess is that with the sale BD probably moved 50k discs. If Paramount shipped enough, they should easly clear 75k of Transformers alone, probably closer to 100k.
My BB had signage not only in the store but on each individual BD shelf for the B1G1Free sale.

Amazing how different each BB store is.

Yeah that is what pisses me off about my local stores. With the expansion it looked like they created new signage for both BD and HD explaining 1080p, etc but nothing about the sale. Just tons and tons of units. Doesn't really make sense since they have put those 'ribbon' banners on the shelves before explaining different sales like purchase two disney titles, get $10 off or whatever. Well at least some stores are doing it right.

Of course,

If celebrating means buying more Blu Ray discs then by all means let the good times roll.

I take everything I read online with a grain of salt (from the red-dogs on AVS I use a whole shaker).

My point was that like the OP stated, it's great we have a sale on our media-of-choice. But celebrating the overturning of the Decepticons on the second day of the sales week might be a little premature. Day and date titles traditionally do well and HD-DVD paid Paramount a lot to have one (if not two) such titles as exclusives. Buy-one, get-one sales are not a limited to blu discs and in this competitive market, dueling promotions are occuring.

That's not to say that once the Transformers buy-in period ends and Blu-ray brings out the big guns for the remainder of the year you won't see total blu domination. And I'm looking forward to a very, very blu Christmas!
