For me this is a very exciting time. I can't wait to log on and check the forum and other sites for blu-ray news. I haven't been this excited since I was a teenager when Sega and Sony were duking it out during the 32-bit system wars.

So you guys all think the war will be over by January? How come?
I just went neutral (well I was always neutral and just a HDM supporter) by buying one of the $98 A2's along with my already owned PS3.

Mainly the HUGE catalog titles that are Blu Exclusive. Maybe because its the biggest shopping season of the year and BD will continue to increase their sales over a dying HD DVD... Or maybe because Toshiba is clearancing their players because they know the war is over and they are cleaning out their warehouses so there is room for the new BD player from Toshiba they have been working on...

Ha! On the one hand yes, but on the other hand he does express himself in coherent, complete sentences. He even uses punctuation! I'm predisposed to give somebody like that some extra leeway. Not Jesus leeway, but a little.

The first two don't make sense as they are no different than last week and the war wasn't being widely considered over until this Toshiba sell-off.
So your third remark may be 100% true and the deal breaker.
Is Toshiba really making BR's now?

We will prevail of that there is no doubt, but it seems that those on the other side won't see as a victory for all. The have associate us with evil and corruption because of they're biased views on Sony.

It's clear to the common neutral person that the best format should win but some would rather stay with an inferior format than relinquish the war so that might win.

FYI: My sister-in-law is a producer out at Canvas Advertising (http://www.canvas.tv/). They regularly pitch to the studios, so I've sent her a copy of my ad idea for inclusion in their next Disney pitch. I'll keep everybody posted, but I'd like nothing more than to see this ad running in full 1080i during the next HD TV Disney event...

(check my earlier posts in this thread for a link to the idea itself)

Interpret my posts as you choose, and I guess you focus more on the posters than the posts, unfortunate. Are you comparing yourself (Guru) to all others? then you come in behind a post, for whatever reason . . . jealous, irritated, pissed off, or whatever, and focus your comments on the poster, rather than the posting.

Hmmm . . . fatherly advice style? Maybe so. I'm a father of five daughters and one son (in that order), I own two businesses with 56 employees, I teach classes at our local college, I contribute to my community by mentoring youths. When in the Marine Corps for 20 years, I served as a platoon leader, a drill instructor, a journalist and an editor. All these positions require one to lead, and that presumes one who leads, has a following. I make no apology for my lifestyle, and if considered a leader . . . how I lead. I'm so sorry you are annoyed and insulted by my posts. Why not, in the future, simply ignore any posts I make, since what I'm saying, gets fogged, by who I am. For you to go to all that trouble to find that photo, of Jesus teaching, I'm honored. Though Jesus' teachings and leadership of love not only were channeled at the young in heart and mind, but also adults, and his impact has had wolrdwide appeal on who we are, how we should act, how we should inter-act with others, ie: your influence and impact on others goes further with sugar, than vinigar. The post I made was during a time of anxiety, over what Toshiba, Wal-mart and Best Buy were doing. If you look at the multitude of posts regarding this event and others, you'd think the world was coming to an end. I understood their 'feelings' but the reality is that Blu-Ray is consistent, persistent, focused on the objective, their following their plan and will prevail.
That was the objective of my post, to calm others with objectivity. [Jim]

I get what your saying, but it's kind of annoying and insulting to some of us.

Well said Jim!

Well thought out, clear, analytical point of view.
I think anyone can appreciate that.
A breath of fresh air!

Now that we are most impressed with your life experience I have even more respect for your point of view. So I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts, advice in the future. There is something to be learned there. So don't change a thing! =)

It's nice when you join BLU brothers to buy more on Transformers week (thanks BOGO) and then see the BLU companies mentioning the victory as a sign that BLU is winning and will win.

I will add this. Even though we here all support the Blu-ray format, we should not forget that the people choosing to support the HD-DVD format are still people, like us. In fact, they have more in common with us than you think. For one, they are fans of HD content as well. Also, they chose to enter into this debate as early adopters just like us.
I will also say that I myself am a fan of film before I am a fan of formats. Yes BD is better, but I would rather watch a great film in the best quality available, than give up on films just because they happen to be in a different format. No i am not neutral at this point, because I believe we can make a difference and as a result we will end up with one dominate format. But if that does not happen, I will gladly take up whatever format I have to to get the best quality for the films I love.
Long live Blu!

Well said Captain.............My girl was going out and asked me the other nite I I wanted anything. I said get me 2001.
She came back empty handed and said they only had it in HD-DVD. I told her she could have bought it. She said that since I've only been buying Blu she didnt want to get it.
Yesterday she was out most of the day and comes back w/a little bag......2001.......in Blu.

I bet they do. When have players of any kind - CD, Laserdisc, DVD, VHS, etc. ever dropped and then rose again? I can't think of any such time.

$99 HD-DVD players are here to stay. IMO, this is a serious threat to BD and i would like to see the BDA do something about it, if it can.
