1.) Movies I considered "must see" I usually saw in the theater.

2.) If they're Red exclusive, I usually have the option to rent them on DirecTV pay per view and the quality is OK.

There are so few movies in this category, however, it isn't really an issue. Heck, I still have a backlog of 10 Blu's I already own that I haven't watched yet. I'm set for several weeks at this point!

Buying SDVD is just a waste of money IMO at this point so I just rent any I may want to see...HOWEVER I honestly could not tell you the last time I rented a Universal movie...

I dont just say this because they are HD exclusive but I really have not seen a Universal movie lately that even interest me enough to rent, new movies anyhow. They just havent been making good movies IMO.

But its rental for me, atleast until I can get some of the catalogs on Blu.

On extremely rare occasion I'll buy a sd dvd from Universal, but generally I just skip them altogether. I haven't touched anything by Paramount in any form since they took the money and ran.

I'll simply hold onto my money for when Universal/Paramount/Dreamworks is ready to take it from me.
I'm perfectly ready and willing to fork over cash to them, but I guess they don't want it

I don't buy or rent Universal or Paramount movies.
I will watch them on Showtime HD or HBOHD.
I'm undecided as to whether I'll go see them in a theater.

I just wait until it comes out on blu ray. It's only a movie after all :P And like someone said, if there was something really I wanted to see, I've probably already seen it in the Theaters.

There are already more Blus that I want than I can afford to buy. I have no problem with waiting for other studios to wake up and release on Blu. There are plenty of choices to spend my $$$ on in the meantime

Depends on the movie.

I have no issue buying an SD version of a film that is not on Blu Ray, or an SD version of a film that is on Blu Ray. Simspons came out and was $16 for standard, $35 for Blu. I bought standard, they're not sqeezing $20 extra dollars out of me for that.

Not every movie needs to be in HD for me, and I'll rebuy the ones that I want in HD when they're released on Blu Ray. My wife wanted Stardust for Christmas, so I got it for her and when it comes out on Blu Ray I'll buy it again.

I won't buy an HD-DVD player though, I can wait until the films I want are on Blu.

I won't buy it if its not on blu ray. But I do have a blockbuster membership so I could watch them on standard via rental. I really haven't bought any standard dvd's in a couple of months.

By the way there is always the option of watching the movie in the theather (like I did with Bourne and Transformers).

Either I rent it or just wait till it comes to Blu.
The last DVD I bought was Transformers.

I care more about enjoying movies than I do holding myself to some format war induced standard. If it is a movie that I really want to see, I will buy it on standard dvd if it doesn't get a blu-ray release. Granted, this has only come up a few times since I got my PS3 in July {Hot Fuzz, Bourne Ultimatum, Transformers}, but still, I'm not going to avoid something just because it is Universal/Paramount. I'll just stick with the standard dvd until the title sees blu-ray release as a catalog title in a year or two.

However, I'm not going to buy an hd-dvd player just so that I can watch these movies in medium-def. That would be kind of silly.

After seeing the previews for the Kingdom, I wasn't too interested in it. There are some Universal releasses I would like to get, but I will wait for them to go nuetral before I do. I already have a few titles on SD right now I have no problem watching upconverted on my PS3, like Dazed and Confused and Back To The Future. I don't know about many others on here, but most Universal titles I want are mostly Spielberg movies, which he won't allow them to release. As far as Transformers I thought it was an ok movie. The special effects were great, but overall just didn't care for it. Hell give me the 86 animated version, to me that one is the only TRUE Transformers movie.

Ignore or rent while awaiting the inevitable superior BD version.

I've bought a couple of SDDVD's since going Blu, but nothing major. The only title I really want from all the HDDVD studios is John Carpenter's The Thing. hehe. Bourne and the Kingdom were good, but man... I almost got sick watching them in theatres - What's with the damn shaky cam? Transformers was good, but I'm quite happy waiting. That movie went from theatres to DVD in 2 months, lawls.

I either saw it in theatre (Transformers, Next, Bourne, and Stardust), or just ignore it. When it gets released, I'd say I would rent it, but thus far, I have yet to rent any DVD that was on HD-DVD. None of the films making their way to HD-DVD are that spectacular that I even want to rent them, with the exception of the 4 that I saw in theatres...

...but though those 4 are good, I've seen it, will wait until it is on Blu-ray before I touch it. I think my rules are that I will not touch it unless it is on Blu, or if it is on neither (I get some DVDs that are on neither format, else, it is Blu)

I agree. If I just have to see it I'll rent it. I refuse to promote HD-DuD in any way, shape, or form.

What I can't buy on Blu-ray I rent on SD DVD through Netflix.

Please remember that as long as people like you remain purple the longer this format war continues. Most members on Blu-ray.com have picked sides (Blu) and are waiting it out in hopes that the format war will end soon.

Fox, Disney, and Sony will NEVER go Red because there is no region coding or copy protection with HD VD. Also, the disc is too small to do any serious encoding work. HD VD will be dead soon and you will have wasted all the money that you spent on that inferior format.
