I think this forum is a cathartic experience for most. Nice to be able to blow off some steam from the FUD found elsewhere.

Well, it's a way to vent first of all. Secondly, we're kind of limited to posting it here, because if you try to post it in a place like the AVS Forum you're likely to get ridiculed, banned, etc. Would love to post it elsewhere, but people just aren't as open-minded in other places. At least, that's been my personal experience.

It is true I actually find this place balanced, if HD-DVD has something good going for it, people here are not afraid to admit it, but over at the troll forums such as AVS if you point out anything in favour of BD you will more than likely be banned/warned by a mod. The thing is its not the mod's fault, its just the number of complaints but the HD-DVD nuts over there so the mod will just do something to shut them up!

Well, the only reason I started posting here recently was because I just got my BD player last week (PS3), but I have been trolling here for quite a while, ever since I got an invite over at AVS. I don't mind the BD "Love-In" stuff, just up to a point.

AVS is really a lost cause. I find some of the posts to be totally rediculous. For example, someone started a post in the BD forum about not being able to find Ant Bully in the stores. So the majority of responses in the thread come from HD-DVD owners saying they found a copy just fine...Not what the OP was asking. No help at all. Loosers.

Haha, the 'HD-DUD' trolls are the losers

Everytime I go there to see if things have changed, they're always fighting! Not a good read. Makes you wanna surf elsewhere.

Anyone know anything about the Japanese release? Details are slim and it came out a few weeks back I believe. I'm not sure that they'd have an edited version there or not...

you're right, we shouldn't have to, but most of us have endured so much propoganda, fud & BS elsewhere it's nice to see a reviewer call them on it. We've all been sitting back taking it and now that the myths are being dispelled left and right it's redemption. Time to eat some crow!

I sat back and listened to their crap for the last 7 months....Crap they to this day still preach! I can't/wont ignore that.

So I say, we celebrate Every great mpeg2/bd25 w/ uncompressed lpcm and loaded with extras. Because it dismisses their Fud everytime.
Can I get an ayyyyyyyyymen!

Chris, someone posted over at AVS that the Asian release is unedited and listed all the scenes that were intact.

Personally I don't feel it's worth paying the $40+ to pay to import it just for a few more secs over the edited "R" version which only costs $18 at Amazon. Yes, there was no real reason for the MPAA to give this an "R" rating to begin with but I'll just have to use my imagination and fill in the missing scenes.

Ah, but does it have english subtitles? Therein lies the rub. If it does, then it's worth it for me to import. I spend on average $70 a disc from Japan so something for $40 is a steal...

If I'm not mistaken, d3code at AVSF bought one. He said there's the Cantonese LPCM 5.1 and English dub. And it's the HK cut. Check the threads.

I bought Japanease version which relesased Nov.26. As a whole, I agree with the review of Chad.
Main feature length is 99 min. Cantonese 5.1ch PCM, English 5.1chDD (640kbps), Japanease 5.1chDD(640kbps).

A bit sad, many of bonus materials have been omitted in Japanease release. But movie itself is very fun, so I am very satisfied.

I also have Superbit version DVD of Kung Fu Hustle (which may be released only in Japan). Of courese, this BR is supperior to Superbit DVD in all meanings.

Default Kung Fu Hustle: No DD 5.1 Cantonese Track??

On my PS3 all I can get is the uncompressed PCM from Kung Fu Hustle in Cantonese(I'm using an optical cable for audio b/c my receiver doesn't support HDMI). Has anyone on the PS3 been able to get Dolby Dig. 5.1 Cantonese for this film?

P.S. I hate it how the PS3 defaults to English even if that's not a film's original language. ARRRRGGHH!!

Kung Fu Hustle doesn't include a DD track in Cantonese, only PCM. DD is included in English and French only.
