Well UK's Play.com has the UK? release at November 13 ( http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/RCS/...e/Product.html ) and UK's Loader247.com has the US release at December 31 ( http://www.loaded247.com/s/R1_DVD/id...ung_Fu_Hustle/ )

Maybe it'll be on the average of those two dates!

Hopefully this is the HK cut. I heard the US cut, they digitally cleaned up the "excessive blood" to get a PG-13 rating. Much like the HOFD treatment.

I agree. Pure Chinese version cut is better then just add the English tracks if necessary.

Make it look like what they showed on AXN (or better).

Well the Japanese BD cover seems to be slightly different. That may or may not apply to the BD content.

That cover is so funny. Almost Superman Returns-like. Wonder what HongKong distributors will come out with; still Region A though.

Default Kung Fu Hustle-Superb! (& A Jab At HDDVD Fanboi's!)

Of all the recent great high def releases, this was one I was probably looking forward to seeing again the least. I don't know why. I think I forgot how much I really enjoyed the film on DVD when I reviewed it way back when. And seeing it again on BD, I was quickly reminded just how functionally outlandish and hilarious the film is, but at a newfound fidelity that surpasses it by leaps and bounds. Here's another 25GB disc with essentially all the extras from the DVD, MPEG2 video, and uncompressed sound that disproves the myths that naysayers like to perpetuate in fear that they might realize they're missing out. In terms of presentation, this disc leaves little room for improvement. Now if Sony could just get Crouching Tiger... and Flying Daggers to look and sound the same. This is demo grade material of a very fun film. No regrets!

I don't understand why US cuts always have the violence cut out, even if it essential to the film. It doesn't make sense as most 12 and 13 year olds won't watch films like this anyway, better of making it R/X-rated so none of the film needs to be cut. I swear it only happens in the States, over here in the UK, if the film was rated 18(R/X equivalent) in theatres, it will be 18 on DVD and nothing will be cut from it.

This is great to hear. I've been looking forward to this title and I'm glad they're doing it justice by putting out a quality disc. I just hope that people will start to come to their senses and realize that there are quality titles on both formats and that it's silly to think that all Blu-Ray titles have poor picture quality, etc.

As many of us have stated on this forum several times, it is no longer June and a lot of the early missteps have been addressed. There is great hardware out in the market now, as well as some stellar titles. Blu-Ray still has a ways to go in terms of getting out more Class "A" titles, but clearly, there is a night-and-day difference from 6 months ago. Sooner or later, everyone's going to have to acknowledge that, regardless of their format of choice.

BTW, it's great to see a reviewer that doesn't neglect the Audio quality on these discs. I find that some reviewers don't emphasize how great uncompressed audio sounds. It almost seems like an intentional omission, but could be that I'm just overly-sensitive when it comes to this

Great! I was looking forward to picking up this disc and this review just cements my decision.

Looks like Sony may have worked out most of the kinks in their encoding processes and is ready to deliver great quality BD's to the marketplace.

The more good reviews the better. This one has had good buzz for months over on AVS.

BTW: Could we not take a jab at HD-DVD every time there's a good review and just let the format stand on its own? This is a BD forum and there really is no reason to fill up the forum with HD-DVD flames.

16 posts and already shot callin? lol...

you're right, we shouldn't have to, but most of us have endured so much propoganda, fud & BS elsewhere it's nice to see a reviewer call them on it. We've all been sitting back taking it and now that the myths are being dispelled left and right it's redemption. Time to eat some crow!

I sat back and listened to their crap for the last 7 months....Crap they to this day still preach! I can't/wont ignore that.

So I say, we celebrate Every great mpeg2/bd25 w/ uncompressed lpcm and loaded with extras. Because it dismisses their Fud everytime.

I whole-heartedly agree. One year from now, I think it will be unnecessary, but right now, this is a pretty big deal to a lot of folks here. Especially, after what folks have had to endure from the HD-DVD camp on AVS forums and the like. You can be sure that if this title was a total dud, we would be hearing about it, i.e. "Another nail in the coffin for Blu-Ray", "Blu-Ray sucks", etc.

But not here. What's the point of posting jabs at HD in an all BD forum?

That's exactly the type of thing that caused this forum to be started to begin with, wasn't it?
