Kung Fu Hustle problems - Blu-ray Forum

Hi there,

Just watched this brilliant movie, and I am having trouble with the sound.

Due to the lag of money my setup runs with optical surround, and this never choose PCM.

When I ouput lossy 5.1 in any language availablem, only extremely high blasts of sound gets through, everything else is non-existant. If I choose PCM and listen to the movie in 2.0 with Dolby Pro Logic the sound goes right through with not problems whatsoever.

What to do?????

Watch the movie with PCM and have your receiver matrix the 2.0 to 5.1.

Its probably due to the output option on your player. Change it from PCM to bitstream and everything should be fine.

Just re-read my original post.. God I suck at english, anyway, here we try again (:

1) My setup works perfectly fine with any other movie, DVD or Blu Ray.
2) I watch my movies on the PS3, and output sound via Optical to a Logitech Z5500 reciever.
3) While outputting ANY language in lossy 5.1 on Kung Fu Hustle - only a very few loud sound effects gets through, nothing else... at first I thought the movie was meant to be TOTALLY quite in the beginning soundwise.
4) IF I make my ps3 output PCM 2.0 via optical, and matrix the sound via Dolby Pro Logic to 5.1 - there are no problems at all, sound is getting through.
5) I prefer true 5.1 lossy over lossless 2.0 matrixed to 5.1
What might be wrong with my setup? As I said, no other movie creates this problem? Might it be the disc?
