Very interesting - so far over 80% of people say never.

On the one hand this puts no pressure on the BDA to bring about a change, but on the other hand it sends the message to Universal and Paramount that the only way to sell movies to the members of Blu-ray.com is to release on Blu-ray.

Isn't this poll a little ridiculous for this forum?

For starters I wouldn't buy just because I hate Samsung. Bought a piece of crap from them once, never again.

I'm not going dual... if I had money to buy a HD-DVD or a dual player, I'd rather just buy more Blu. Even if Paramount and Universal both stay at HD-DVD, it's not gonna kill to not see their movies.

I don't think so - it's a question that is only relevant for Blu-ray owners, so this is an ideal place to ask.

The responses so far show the strength of support for Blu-ray, and that Toshiba cannot hope to get many Blu-ray owners to shift to dual-format any time soon.

If
1. I ever actually had enough $ to buy every blu I ever wanted and there were no more blu's to select from....right and it was the year 2010 and Uni/Par still were absolutely NEVER were gonna go blu and I could get a good HD-DUD player for no more than $59.99

Hypothetically speaking, supposing the aforementioned highly unlikely scenario ever presented itself, I might consider considering kind of giving it a thought maybe.....but prob not.

The topic states if Paramount/ uni stayed Red:
In that case I would go dual, when A3 hit 75 bucks and includes 10 HD DVDs However Blu I may be - im still a studen with very limited income.. theres no point for me in paying big bucks for the same movies on blu, when I can get em cheap on red...

Playing both sides of the fence is a vote for stagnation and drip-drip releases. It will not show the average consumer that we have a clear upgrade path to HD and they will likely stop buying DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray. This will set up Microsoft to come in with a downloadable HD technology and we will all be screwed. It is exactly what happened to audio and those who think video is all that much different are just fooling themselves. It may take a while longer to implement downloadable HD, but if we don't establish an optical HD video format soon, that's exactly what will happen. MS and Apple aren't stupid. They know what's at stake.

Why settle for anything less than Blu-ray? When it comes to video, I ONLY use the best of the best, Blu-ray! Besides, I think over time the companies that currently support HD DVD will either eventually switch to Blu-ray or will lose business because everyone is going Blu-ray. Time and consumers will make the outcome.

HD-DVD won't exist pretty soon, and if it does there is something wrong with the medium as a whole...

There's no reason to go neutral.

HD-DVD will be completely gone by the end of the year.

I MIGHT buy an HD-DVD player when the format is DEAD and just want it for a collectors item.
