I have gone by several Wal-Marts around here and talked to the person who is in charge of putting out hi-def media (every place I went, there was one person who was in charge of putting them out). And when I talked with at person the common response was, "I put out whatever I have in the back to put out--no matter what."

Out of curiosity, how often do you see new releases on tuesday at that walmart?

Warner didn't break the street date. These stores are breaking it. It's possible Warner didn't have time to change when these shipments were going out.

If Warner had changed the street date, then big online retailers would be selling it today. But Amazon is not:

http://www.amazon.com/Invasion-Combo.../dp/B000I2JKFQ

Still listed as February 19 (and still with the nice warning that Warner is dropping HD DVD support).

This will happen with every Warner title up to May 31st.

UNLESS

Warner SHIP to wholesale 3 weeks later.

If the retailer gets a title. It goes on sale.

If Warner want their 3 week delay to actually mean anything then they have to take the steps to make sure it is not possible for a retailer to put the HD DVD title out with the Blu-ray title.

I'm not sure that Warner will do that and they will place the blame on the retailer - who doesn't give a shit as long as cash is going into the register.

Come May, these things will be irrelevant.

This will be a great excuse for Warner to use to stop releasing in HD DVD right now. BTW I sent Best Buy an e-mail regarding this, won't hurt

Honestly, this doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. There is no reason to be frustrated that the B&M stores did not keep with assigned street date for the HD DVD release of "The Invasion".

I don't expect the time exclusivity on "The Invasion" to compel HD DVD fans to suddenly buy into Blu. At this point, the only people who are invested in HD DVD are the fanatical and have no intention of switching to Blu.

It's so funny how HD DVD is talked about more than blu-ray at blu-ray.com.

I think Warner is hoping that the 3 week delay will force many retailers to say "why bother?" with the HD-DVD version.

Nevertheless, if they really want to enforce the 3 week delay then they need to ship them later.

I was discussing this very topic on avs, all of a sudden I get a ban. A guy made fun of my grammar cause I forgot to put a period. So I said he was childish and that I knew I was right if I had to rebut in that regard. Here is avs's reason for banning me for good:"in addition to this post, received complaints this member is sending attack PM's to other members: this is a further violation of AVS rules." Someone made up that I was sending attack PM's. Dead serious, so you guys are going to be seeing a lot more of me anyways. And on top of it I was getting threat PM's from one member in particular that I just ignored. I should have just stuck around here, it is more like home.

Much appreciated. I just bleed to much blu and whenever I read anything about the red side, I do a good job of putting people in their places. I guess they did not like that. I enjoy a good confrontation, on here I will never get that. We all think alike and have invested our hard earned money in a better format. Money well invested I might add. I post a lot, I hope people get use to it.

I pretty much expected this. If retailers are shipped product they will put it out to sell. The only thing Warner can really do is hold the HD DVD shipments back. The only title that this might have an effect on in the sales area is I Am Legend. That's the only major day and date from Warner that is expected to move a lot of units in the next few months. If Warner is really committed to this plan they need to hold that HD DVD title physically back from retailers.
