I bought it for my wife & WE watched it together & both liked it & YES it has a good story line very creative with good twists. The PQ is good for a VC-1 you know & it only comes with a DD 5.1 SOOOO....

My wife loved Lady in the water, I thought it was horrible too. I think I actually liked lake house better, and that does not say much.

Lakehouse is one of the movie I brought today from the Amazon B2G1 sales, I thought it was an interesting story and my GF likes it. I also brought Good Fellow and Knight's Tale, the total came to $28.11 with my never ending 10% early adopter discount and free 2 days shipping, that's $9.37 per movie, what a deal.

BTW I do not like Lady's In The Water at all.

I'll pass on this, I'll suffer enough when The Notebook is released on Blu.

If you can, try to watch the Korean original, titled "Il Mare," instead of "The Lake House." It's a lot better, and its stars are also much more attractive.

I am slightly challenged or something because I liked Gigli. Yes, there is a ton of flaws and you want to punch the main characters, but I love John Powell's score (which the movie didn't diserve) and it has kind of a light heartedness to it.

I watched it twice and enjoyed it....yes, im a male and I watched it alone both times....lol......I enjoy all movies

but I would recommend it if you enjoy a good love story....its actually suspensefull in parts....the ending acutally brought a tear to the eye, not green mile tears, but a tear nontheless.

Thumbs down

Horrible chick flick, Neo's acting skills are right up there with Kevin Costner. All these Chinese remakes suck, The Eye, One missed Call, Dark Water horrible remakes.

dreadful dreadful movie. I haven't seen it in blu, just dvd, and have no desire to see it again.

if you watch this, try not to be too critical of the time travel aspects, it will be difficult.

The lake house is a chick flick, but I thought it was worth watching at least once...not sure about owning it though. And I too only saw it on dvd, so I have no idea if the blu version is a good transfer or not.

Talking One cool thing about the Lake

If you go to IMDB and look at filming locations, and google earth the "Lake"
zoom in, you can see the production trucks and boom cameras and even two copies of the blue/green truck he drove sitting on the road to the lake house.
Just a fun side note.

I think you're all missing the best part of the disc! Go to the special features, and there's some bloopers there. In the scene where the car is hit and explodes, and crewman rolls a mannequin head down the street to Sandra Bullock - it is hysterical!

EDIT - Oh, Crap! I just realized I was thinking of 'Premonition' - I never did watch Lake House (my wife has watched it without me twice). What a moron. Maybe someone will wise up and take away my ability to post before 6:00 am.

Another dead thread. I actually remember this fondly. No. it's not the movie of the decade, or even the year or the month, but it's better than a lot of romance flicks - imho (if memory serves). It's not a "rom-com" and I would argue that the sci-fi element takes it out of the strict "chick flick" category, but YMMV.

The real reason I posted was to ask : if anyone out there has this BD and the DVD, is the BD an actual upgrade. The reviewer failed to cover that (while giving this a real low score) - and, no, BDs are not "always better", especially these early ones. I would assume that the AQ is similar to the DVD as they didn't go lossless (unless they tamped down the volume), but is there an uptick in PQ - despite the lousy rating?
