it probably is...im guessing the HDMI input button configuration...let me search around for the user manual.

pg. 46 of user manual has input setup of HDMI cable.

make sure for the button youre assigning to it, that you have either IN 1, IN 2 or IN 3 (whichever you have the Blurayplayer connected into...this might be your downfall?)

with this receiver i CAN hookup everything via hdmi and use it as a switcher with one hdmi running to the tv i thought? or do i have to run the hdmi straight from blu to the tv and coax to the receiver?

yes, you can even connect devices with Component,Composite and S-Video and output them through the HDMI also.

ok....

hdmi monitor out: yes (allows me to see receiver menu and blue screen on tv)
digital input: coax 1 (where its connected)
hdmi input: (when i mess with this i lose sound still no picture)
component video input: (mess with this nothing happens, still no picture)

i have bdp-s300 connected to the 1st hdmi, and coax to the 1st coax, then an hdmi from the output on the receiver going to the tv....what would stop the dvd image?

hdmi input: IN 1

(press "Setup" button to exit)

..also make sure IN 1 is only used for the input button (ex. DVD) you wish to use for the bluray player.

yep just did that as i found it in this choose your own adventure book called instructions......still no picture

edit: when i set that to the hdmi 1 i lose sound since the digital input changes also, when i set that back to coax i get sound back.

shouldnt i be able to get sound without the coax though straight through the hdmi? or is that just for the lossless formats.

yep dvd only

ok i unhooked the coax just hdmi from blu to receiver, hdmi from receiver to tv......now i get no sound

does it matter that this is an upconvert dvd, sound and video can still pass through the hdmi?

edit : the display on the reciever reads ...... pcm ..... hdmi dsp ...... then under those says dvd
so somethings getting through just not to the speakers and tv now

you will have to go into the bluray player settings and output audio over HDMI.

welcome to horn heaven! im glad you went with the RC-62's there definitely a nice force to reckon with.

dont forget to 'toe in' your fronts, and as much as possible align the center to the fronts (which may deem a bit impossible here), but try to point it towards the sweetspot.

i suggest also getting some mopads to further improve your centers performance. i noticed a very good amount of difference when i decoupled mine using em.

heres the website...

http://www.auralex.com/sound_isolati...tion_mopad.asp

you can also purchase them at your locale guitar center

ok so i am in my bdp-s300 setup menu. audio setup: i got settings for:

dolby digital: downmix pcm
dts: downmix pcm
dts downmix: lt/rt
audio(hdmi): auto (only other choice is pcm)

under speakers tab: i got a choice of 2 channel or 5.1 on the bdp-s300
so how do i set it to output through hdmi.

i get sound and video hooked directly to the tv but once i hookup the receiver i get nothing through hdmi, or i can get sound with the coax (i disconnected that) but either way its not letting the image pass to my tv.

I would try setting your HDMI, as well as everything else at PCM...
