this is interesting because just two days ago I was at my BB and they still had an equal number of space dedicated to HD DVD as to BR...

For sure, I was at 3 Best Buy's last night looking for the sale titles and noticed the HD DVD labeled racks were all covered with Blu-ray's!!!!!! At first I was like what the hell? But then I realized all HD-DUD's were removed!!!!!

This shouldn't surprise anyone. You would have to think that once the existing HD-DVD owners gobbled up inventory in their post-defeat panic, the sales of HD-DVD would plummet.

There's no point in keeping this thing on life support, the brain wave activity has stopped.

Most stores are taking this route. When I visited Target for their latest BOGO, they only had one column of HD-DVD. Maybe 7-8 titles and little more than a dozen total discs.

I want to go to my best buy.

I live in a smaller town that only recently got a best buy (maybe 2 years ago) so I'm sort of afraid I'll still see some duds

But,.. I would love to take the stroll though the store and just happen to notice all traces of DUD have been rightfully removed. Sounds fun.

Good question I was a former dud fan and have a player. I was looking for sweet discounts to tie me over till the Blu versions of the title comes out. Now I'm a happy PS3 40GB owner

I'll be glad when by local best buy gets rid of all their hd-dvds. Their blu-ray section is still only 3 small sections, where the hd-dvds take up the rest of the aisle. I understand they are trying to get rid of their inventory, but its not happening fast enough. I want more blu-ray movies.

Good news indeed...I found that some people were still buying HD-DVDs without knowing that they were being discontinnued. I had to inform a guy the other day at best buy...and he was a bit upset, thinking he bought into the newest, best technology available. The sooner it's gone...definately, the sooner the confusion for misinformed consumers.

+1 for BB and the consumer. CC should do the same. Two weeks ago, I went my local CC, and they were still split 50/50 over DUD and blu (two shelves each), and were still promoting the Xbox add-on. Yes, people were still buying DUD, and at full retail. There was nothing in the store to advise that HD-DVD is being discontinnued. -1 for CC.

Do you think they'll expand their in-store library, or just have more copies of the same movies?

Also, still waiting for my check in the mail for being part of the blu ray winning team celebration. Also still waiting on my O.J. Simpson win check. WINNERS! We're on the team!

Default Best Buy getting rid of all HD DVD movies

Cool............now if BB would just get rid of their horrible in store pricing I might actually step foot in one of their stores more than once a year.

p.s.

Yes, I read they are going to lower BRD prices on some movies. BFD. IMO, they need to slash prices all over the store.

Yeah, this was great news and thanks for the actual BB announcement.

After seeing it mentioned yesterday I checked on my way home last night and all the HD DVDs were gone. The best part though is that they had already filled the HD DVD section with blu-rays (8 sections of blu-ray now, as well as 3 mobile sections that they move to different areas around the store).

Hopefully CC is doing the same. Their hi-def space definitely needs expanding. Using the HD DVD section will help some but it'll still just leave hi-def with basically 2 sections.

Edit: I won't mention this anymore. I think I've posted essentially the same thing in 3 different threads on this. Sorry 'bout that. I thought it was pretty exciting though to see blu-ray expanding.

They've all been shipped to my house, where no red-headed step-child is left to feel unloved...
