Power Conditioner....how important... - Page 2 - Blu-ray Forum

Now that I think about it, I don't have any protection for my equipment. I live in the Lightning Capitol of the World (Tampa Bay) and we get power spikes all the time and downed power lines constantly. I should get a UPS. Luckily, my house doesn't get virtually any line noise, which is a good thing.

I have a Monster Powercenter 3600MKIII and when a lightning bolt hit near the house, the PCMKIII got fried. It stopped the surge cold though, and probably saved my equipment. And Monster replaced it absolutely free of charge. I have a smaller one in the bedroom now. See my sig.

FWIW, they do seem to clean up the picture on DirecTV. I tried it with and without the Power center and it looked much better going through the filter.

i do think that they are important depending upon where you live. Where I live, I never really have an issue with a power loss or brown out. This is my resoning for only getting a nice surge protector.

However, if you feel you need a conditioner, but all means, go for it because they do protect in damn near all scenarios
