Some of Louis Armstrong's recordings from the 1920s are out on SACD and it's great! Just because music or film was produced a long time ago doesn't mean we should ignore it now that we have the capacity for high resolution.

Well yeah, but it was intentional. And yes, it was AMAZING. My pick would be Stargate.

I said 300, well i guess, you can debate it as that "neccesary" grain, but the question to the forum was....Which Movie had the most grain.....Again, I love the movie, but could do better without the grain, just my opinion

Dracula had a lot so much that I sold it, and Full Metal Jacket the newer version still had lots of grain. I don't mind grain but this FMJ is another story.

So far according to my eyes, AC/DC: Live at Donington has the most grain.

I don't mind subtle film grain....most new movies look great, but something like 300 is just too much...if some movies have more than others that leads me to believe that either some directors are using crappy film stock or manipulating the film in a way that adds more grain. I hate the feeling of watching a movie through an hourglass with the sand falling...on the other hand movies with noise reduction that removes grain yet smears all detail pretty much beats the purpose of high definition since it's all about the details. I say subtle grain and full detail is a happy medium that is acceptable for all.

Is it just my setup, or is the wizard battle at the end of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix super grainy?

As for the grain in Young Frankenstein, Grain good!!! DNR bad!!!

Honestly, I wish people would stop talking about grain like it is a bad thing, because then studio people see it and start thinking they need to scrub all of the movies they are readying for blu, even ones that were made just a few years ago that don't really have any grain to speak of.

Grain is like the artist's brushstrokes on a fine oil painting. Let's just leave it alone, please. I wish the studios would pay more attention to getting us hi-def audio with all of the new releases. But that's another story.

Rose tinted glasses aside, the Godfather 1 & 2 looked downright awful in places.
