That's true. You do know they need to wait before lowering the price, right? I'm sure you also realize the PS3 price freeze is not permanent.

I posted on here several times that when Sony made the announcement that they were not dropping the price for the holidays, they were basically conceding 2nd place (Nintendo put first place out of reach a long time ago).

So you believe 2 to 5 months of being outsold will negate the next 7 years of PS3 sales? That would basically be the only way this whole "conceding 2nd place" bit makes sense. Actually, 1st place isn't really out of reach either (depending how long people continue the Wii viral transmission and how long the Wii stays on the market).

For myself, the numbers do not bother me as long as it doesn't hurt development on the system. If 3rd parties start abandoning PS3 development in favor of the Wii and 360, then I will start caring. Until then, as long as PS3 keeps getting great 1st and 2nd party exclusives and 3rd parties continue to support it, I don't care who's ahead of who.

I agree. Personally, most of my purchases next year will be 1st/2nd party or 3rd party exclusive titles (only RE, Ghostbusters and Aliens:Colonial Marines are currently on my multiplatform radar).

Sony can't afford to fight this battle with the same strategy that the BDA used for Blu-ray vs HD DVD...the PS3 has helped Blu-ray more than Sony games...

the thing is...they are only part of the BDA, but they own their own gaming company...

how much do they stand to gain if BD becomes the next mainstream tech for watching movies and digital media? edit: they almost seem to be waiting patiently, but you can't wait patiently for 2 years..

You couldn't give me a 360 if my life depended on it. With all of this RROD crap going around, I feel really bad for the parents that bought "Tiny Tim" a 360 just because of how cheap it is.

Hell, a friend of mine bought an Elite and it was RROD out of the box.

So is 360 talk allowed in this forum or not? There are two active threads right now with 360 in the title. Neither thread has been closed, and neither thread has anything to do with blu-ray. The one thing that both threads do have in common is that the vast majority of posts within them are biased against the 360.

It would appear that 360 talk is actually tolerated quite well in this forum as long as it's negative talk. The moment anyone speaks positively about the 360...... that's when the threads get locked.

C'mon mods...... can we just pretend you're not biased, and either follow the "no xbox discussion" rule at all times...... or just delete that rule all together? The way it is now.... some people get to have their cake and eat it too..... while others just get cake shoved in their face.

I used to be a loyal "X-Boxer" until I read about the RROD and the disc scratching issue. That sealed the deal for me and my 40 gig PS3 purchase.

To this day, I still occasionally play my original X-Box. Just the thought of paying 300+ dollars for something that WILL fail at some point in time leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Robin, this is a PS3 forum, on a website dedicated to Blu Ray.
If you want to see pro- 360 threads, I would direct you to the Offf topic forum, or even better, to an X-Box fan site.

But venting about a bias pro-PS3 here, in this very forum, it's pretty much like venting about a Pro Environmental bias at a Greenpeace convention.

Also, about the "360" in the thread title, you will notice that the threads also concern the PS3 as a matter of market/ competition.

ah..bad luck then falcon pretty much killed rrod. jasper gets rid of it completely.

seriously tho..if you want a 360, find a jasper, it shouldnt let you down. *note i said shouldnt lol*

They can't simply rely on cost cutting measures anymore as a means of inducing sales; there's simply no means for them to cut any further. They're already at bargain bin prices well below the PS3 and even the Wii.

Meanwhile, Sony has gigantic room to cut the price of the PS3 and induce sales. I'm sure that many Europeans are content with PS2 offerings until the PS3 manages to become more affordable; they certainly aren't adopting the 360 in droves.

Bottom line: when Sony moves on price, so will Europe towards the PS3 big time. Microsoft has used everything in their arsenal while Sony has yet to make any of its major moves. Unfortunately many people on message boards only look at the short-term rather than looking at the context surround both systems and what that potentially means for the long-term.

So far, I'm very pleased with my PS3. No problems whatsoever.


I don't use it as a BD player though. I have a Sony S300 & S301 to handle those duties.

I do wish that Sony would release a firmware update or something that gives us 40 gigers, backwards compatibility with PS2 games.

As for the 360, your advice has been noted. It "SHOULDN'T" let me down.

That's all well and good...... HOWEVER..... if you are going to allow 360 talk.. then it is only fair to allow counterpoints as well. PERIOD.

hard to hate the ps3 thats for sure. and yea..i'm ready for bc to come back, i want downloadable ps2 games

but i just hate to see people miss out on games they can be playing on the 360

Some great exclusives to be had there for sure, Gears 1 and 2 are the best games on the 360.
