use one and charge the other. You should never have a dead controller. (unless you use two or more at the same time ALL the time)

No I don't have a second controller. I'd rather charge while playing than spend $50 just for an extra battery.

My iPod doesn't enter charge mode until my laptop is on, iTunes is opened, and the pod synch is completed. Only then does the battery charging logo appear. Maybe it's because my iPod synchs first everytime - but it IS what happens for me.

I'm a pretty introverted individual and don't really interact with anyone who isn't family or a co-worker. Nobody in my family cares about games, and anybody else I know who games is pretty much all about racing and FPS games. In other word, no I don't have anybody else to play with and I'm cool with that. I mostly like to play single player games anyway.

In a few years when my currently 9 month old nephew gets into gaming, then perhaps things might change a bit. Especially since I intend to buy him any video game related items he might want, considering nobody has ever bought me any for Xmas/Birthday presents.
