I really like how with remote play you can change the audio output device during the remote play. I can turn on my AVR and send the audio to that instead of my PSP. That's pretty neat.

Ya I love that feature. I sort of wish that remote play were easier to start up. Right now the only options are either turn on remote start and have the PS3 off, or set the PS3 to remote play beforehand. I don't like leaving remote start-up on the PS3 because it's a waste of power, but I hate having to remember to set it every time I might want to use remote play.
A good start would be not needing to go to the Remote Play icon on the PS3. If I just turn on my PS3 manually, then hit remote play on the PSP it'd be nice if it started remote play automatically. That saves me from having to turn on all my equipment just to navigate to the remote play icon.

Does anyone know of a good step-by-step guide showing how to configure a PSP and PS3 for remote play? A friend of mine just picked up a PSP Go, and we're having a heck of a time getting it to interface with the PS3 at all.

We've paired the two together, and also have entered his PS3 PSN ID and password into the PSP. Something appears to be rejecting during the authentication process, and it stops in its tracks. Meanwhile, the PSP has full internet connectivity and can access the PS Store using his account info no problem.

Thanks for all of your help and suggestions with this one.

Is the PSP connecting directly to the PS3 (Ad-hoc) or via a router (Infrastructure)?

when you paired them, you used a USB cable and not the bluetooth pairing? You need to use USB

PSPgo has bluetooth, I wondered if they'd tried to pair it using that instead of USB

The PSP Go features 802.11 Wi-Fi (Wireless B), but no longer uses a standard USB A-to-Mini-B cable common with many devices. A new proprietary multi-use connector is used for USB connectivity. A suitable USB cable is included with the unit. The new multi-use connector allows for charging and USB similar to previous units, but also allows video and sound output with the same connector (with optional Composite AV cable and Component AV cable), unlike previous offerings which had TV OUT functionality on a separate port to the USB port. Sony also offers an optional cradle for charging and USB data transfer on the PSP Go, similar to previous offerings.

The PSP Go adds support for Bluetooth connectivity, enabling the use of compatible Bluetooth headsets and tethering with Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones. This also enables users to connect and play games using a Sixaxis or DualShock 3 PlayStation 3 controller or Bluetooth headset.

new to the boards, but it sounds like kingofgrills problem is that they are not putting the ps3 in remote play mode before trying to connect. As someone said before, you either have to have the ps3 on and in remote play mode, or have the ps3 off and set to allow it to be turned on from the internet.
