I leave my PS3 on all of the time when I'm not around so that it can FOLD@HOME. I just got a PSP today and was wondering if the 'Remote Play' feature can be activated while I'm out and about if the PS3 is FOLDING? If not, then that sucks!
Do I have to set the PS3 up for remote play everytime I leave the house with my PSP in hand "in case I decide to use it"? |

I don't think it will override the Folding function....yet. Folding@home is releasing an update that will allow a specific function so it turns off after a set time - that may help.
If you are not folding, then the PSP can access and turn on your PS3 remotely - it does not have to be set to remote access before you leave the house anymore - that was how it used to be. They finally made it more convenient. |

Hmmm... Ok. I understand that. Folding actually has the ability now to turn off after a work unit is done. But, does the PS3 have to be powered down though in order to connect properly? Because I can't seem to get the two to work together as I expected.
HAHAHA... what's funny is that I can activate FOLDING@HOME while connected to the PS3 via Remote Play, but is it the PS3 that's doing the work or the PSP? Last edited by Petra_Kalbrain; 12-26-2007 at 08:41 PM. |

Finally got my remote play to work. Its amazing i had my PS3 for over a year and still finding new features. you know what would be a good idea? A PS3 disc changer. so when you go out of town you could pop in and play a bunch of PS1 games instead of being stuck with the one thats in there

I realize this is an old thread - but it relates to my question. I have the setting to turn on the PS3 with the PSP "turned on" on my PS3. But unless my PS3 is already turned on with "Remote Play" activated - I can not seem to start remote play either through wi-fi or direct. (My target is to perform it through wi-fi). Anybody have any tricks that might work? |

1.First re-register the PSP. 2.Select Remote play on the PS3 itself.(it should go to a black screen with a paragraph saying some crap, idk) Keep it on that screen. 3.Go to Remote Play on your PSP and select "Private Network" when it asks you what type of connection. 4.After that select the "PS3 system" as your access point on your PSP. That should work when you're in the immediate vecinity of your PS3. If not let me know. |

I have not ever really had any problems w/ remote play. I have been using it for about 3 wks now and love it. Just do everything the psp and ps3 say when setting it up. My only problem came a couple of weekends ago when I was in OH at a hote. It would right after logging into the psn right away logg me out of the psn. After about 8 trys through ther course of 45 minutes it started working fine. I did close it down and then try reaccessing it a few minutes later and it said that the system was already in remote play w/ another system. I just held the psp power for 5 sec. and restarted it and it hooked right back up again. I love remote play and it is the only reason I purchased a psp.
Also if you need to convert movies for your psp that are already on your computer psp video 9 works great. on the best audio and pic settings each movie is a 650+ MB to 800+ MB. It is a freeware program and I highly recommend it |

if you use private network connection(connect directly to your PS3) it should work all throughout a medium size house or apartment. in a perfect world you can connect from anywhere in the world via hotspot internet connection, but thats where Remote Play seems to have a mind of its own.

My ps3 is at my apartment in green bay. I have accessed it from my university across town and also from a hotel in tiffen ohio. As long as your ps3 has a internet connection and you can access the internet you should have no problems if done right
