Alright so now I'm looking at picking up a PSP if I can find a fairly inexpensive one used. I'd definitely get the 3000, regardless of screen issues. What is most important to me is the ability to play PS1 games (from discs in my PS3) on my PSP.
Does anyone use this feature? How does it work and how well does it work? |

Hopefully! I haven't used Remote Play in a very long time, may try that out later. I know that I haven't seen them stating it being fixed or worked on in the firmware messages, but hopefully that doesn't mean they didn't!

Yes, of course. you would just have to set your Remote Play settings on the PS3 to "allow the PS3 to connect to remote play via the internet" to on.

I apologize for bumping an old thread, but my question relates directly to Remote Play via PSP.
When using remote play, can you... ...play PS3 games if they support the feature? If so, is there a list of compatible PS3 games? They only one I heard of initially was Lair. ...play a Blu-ray movie, if there is one in the drive? ...play PSN downloaded games? ...play video content on the hard drive, or downloaded from PSN? Are there any other Remote Play capabilities I haven't thought of? If so, what are they? I apologize for the number of questions. I don't have a PSP yet, but I'm contemplating getting one. Remote Play has always been a very intriguing feature, but it's been hard for me to find any information about it. I greatly appreciate your help. |

Q: When using remote play, can you...
...play PS3 games if they support the feature? If so, is there a list of compatible PS3 games? They only one I heard of initially was Lair. A: As far as I know, there are very few games which work over remote play, Lair is one, High Stakes Poker is another one, Pixel Junk Monsters and Eden are others. There are probably a few others, but it is a short list unfortunately. Q: ...play a Blu-ray movie, if there is one in the drive? A: No, you cannot currently stream blu-rays or dvd movies by remote play. Q: ...play PSN downloaded games? A: Again, some PSN games like High stakes poker and Pixel junk eden and monsters, probably a few more. Q: ...play video content on the hard drive, or downloaded from PSN? A: You can stream videos on the hard drive over remote play, however, videos bought or rented from the PSN are not able to be streamed as Sony has apparently blocked this for whatever reason. Q: Are there any other Remote Play capabilities I haven't thought of? If so, what are they? A: You can use the PS3 internet browser over remote play (it works great), you can stream music and movies stored on your hard drive (non PSN), also streams media from PC's in your home which are connected to the PS3 via media server. Also the PS Eye camera works over remote play, so you can actually use your PS Eye camera as a security camera. You can access the Playstation Store via remote play and purchase and download content. You can also remotely turn on and turn off your PS3 over remote play. If you live in Europe, you can stream live TV over the PlayTV application and play, pause, and record live television or shows saved on the harddrive. Hopefully play TV gets released in North America soon. That's all I can think of for now. I mostly use the internet browser over remote play when my wife is watching some lame reality show and it works great. |

I just won it about 35 minutes ago. The dude selling it is from the US, some place in the Mid West. As soon as I won, I sent him an e-mail and then paid by pay-pal right after it. He just sent me an e-mail saying he received my Pay-Pal funds and he will be shipping it out tomorrow. Total with shipping was just under $200.00, which I can't complain about at all.
![]() Someone has a "buy it now" for $187.50 (same price as I just won), brand new in the box if your looking around on E-Bay. Just type in PSP GO in the search box and it should pull up. |

Well, he listed it as new in the box...unopened, sealed, etc. I know his name, address and what city he lives in. Of course, it could all be a lie too. I've never had a problem off e-bay, yet. And the dude has a 100% rating with a bunch of stuff sold, which made me feel better about putting a bid in for it. He did respond back really fast, which usually indicates he's ok. I'm assuming it was a gift and he doesn't want it.

Hi,
I experimented some with Remote Play the other day. It could be really good for me because I have a 500GB hard drive in my PS3 which could hold all my music (in MP3 form) and a lot of movies (in MP4 form) and then I could watch them even when I go away. Also... I could enjoy any media on the PS3 without having to run my projector which is neat too. I still have some problems though. My PS3 always rejects my PSP unless I have the PS3 on and navigate to the remote play thing in the XMB. This means I have to have the PS3 and the projector on and at that point I don't see the usefulness of remote play since I have the whole theater up and running and I could just use that instead. Strangely... Videos play great over the remote play (even though they must be down converted on the fly) but music stutters. I have no idea why it wouldn't be the other way round. Remote play could be great for me but it may just be a little less than use-able. I'll keep looking into it. -Brian |

Well,
I don't know why but when I tried it again most of the problems I was having were gone. I really like how with remote play you can change the audio output device during the remote play. I can turn on my AVR and send the audio to that instead of my PSP. That's pretty neat. -Brian |
