It's no POTC, but it looks the best Hard-Boiled has ever looked, and I've seen every version released in every format. If you like Hard-Boiled, you NEED it. BTW, you can't watch the movie without a PS3. You access the movie from the game main menu.

if it is...it's worth about 15 bucks. Stylish I guess, but supposedly very short and to me it played like a suped-up Max Payne ripoff.

It's Blu-Ray and the movie is actually on the same disc as the game. Pretty nice huh?

Would you be able to play the movie on a standard blu-ray player?

that is actually a good question. i would assume that the player will show the menu of the disc, and from there you start the film. or maybe it will start the film automatically.

Default Hard Boiled...on PS3 Game, Stranglehold?

I waited a while, watched the Die Hard set drop from $129 everywhere to $98 at Wal-Mart. Went to get it, it was $89! So I was looking for more life, giving rain, nothing else was around, and wandered down the aisle.

There is Hard-Boiled in straight DVD. I thought, hey, that's got to be a classic release, it will come out - checked the box - and it's a Weinstein company DVD. No joy.

Came home, looked it up to see what was happening, and some Wikipedia entry says that there is a full length, "hi-def" version of the complete film on the PS3 game "Stranglehold". I can't get my arms around this.

All I can figure is that the game was in production, and somehow they optioned it from Weinstein. I have no idea of the transfer quality, and the Wiki entry states that you can do diddly with it - no fast forward, even.

Anybody know anything about this? I don't have a PS3, no clue what's happening.

It's a true 1080P High Def version of Hard Boiled included on the game disc. But it only works on the PS3 and not any other player. This is the only High Def version released so far of the movie. It could be years before we see a regular Blu-ray of this.

Dang. I'll just get the DVD, then. I'll pick up a few Blu-Rays while I'm at it, perhaps that will ease the gas pains.

I saw the ad for that in a game magazine, couldn't figure out what the Chow-Yun Fat connection was, and no mention of the movie...this had to be five or six months back, forgot all about it.

Oh, well...

Question

old topic, I know but ...

Is the disc region free?
usually games are region free and movies not always ... but they're on the same disc!
