Odd, I assume you where using Poweredvd8 ultra (for blu ray support), I tried that and it asks me to update my player (but there is no newer version that supports blu ray).

Yeah, just why are the first two Futurama only available on DVD so far? I understand they are native HD as well, aren't they?

Correct, in the commentary for Benders Big Score they talk about how it was the first Futurama to be produced in widescreen and HD and there was even a trailer for it several years back on a 20th Century Fox BD (I forget which) but for some reason they have never released it or 'The Beast with a Billion Backs'

When the films will edited into episodes for broadcast they had 'Previously On' intros before each episode and those intros were included on the Volume 6 BD so no doubt HD masters are ready but for some reason they are holding them back.

I think most of us are waiting for Bender's Big Score and Beast With a Billion Backs in HD. Nobody really knows what the holdup is, but nothing seems to be on the horizon yet.

As for the first 4 seasons, they have been produced in SD, so these would only be upscales like the earlier Simpsons seasons. With a decent upscaling player you probably wouldn't see all that much difference compared to the DVDs.
