I have a BDP-S1 and although the movie played just fine, it seemed to take forever to load. The blank screen stays on for 2-3 minutes before the movie starts.

Try it again and see if it will run.

Phoned Sony help line 8 times and they cut me off 8 times while waiting for agent. I tried downloading firmware upgrades to no avail. So spent $ 67.00 for a pair of movies I can't watch. I'm so impressed, not not as much as getting cut off 8 times. I talked to Sony back in Feb and they were suppose to send me a disc that never arrived. My machine says it has firmware 1.06.

Can't be found on the web. You need to connect via the port on the back of the unit as explained in the manual. Works great!

Had some gov't customers who were fond of using the term bohica...

Go here and find out how.

http://www.samsung.com/support/produ...oad/index.aspx

If you still have problems then give the manufacturer a call. You paid for their support when you bought the system.

Yeah I'm in the same boat - my access point/router is upstairs and I have zero desire to go pulling my player out, and bringing it upstairs for a firmware update. Why isn't this downloadable?

Check that - there is firmware posted on their website this morning. I'll update my player tonight.

This Firmware update provides the following benefits:
1. Improves playback compatibility in some movies
. Enhanced Blu-ray movie title''s playability
. Enhanced performance of in-movie games
2. Reduces disc tray opening time from 24 to 11 seconds when player is in Standby mode

I'm in the same boat as Ken with my Sony BDP S-1 Blu-Ray player as well. I purchased Pirates of the Caribbean "Dead Man's Chest" from Best Buy yesturday, and the dern thing wouldn't load at all. I contacted Sony's customer support line and they told me it was the movie, so I took it back to Best Buy today and exchanged it. When I got back to the house I incurred the same problem as I had with the previous copy. To make a long story short here, the extras disc works fine but the movie doesn't play. The screen remains blank (tested upto 10 minutes), and the display shows a "1" (chapter) and the h/m/s display's all zero's, somebody pleeeeaaassseeee help!

btw-running version 1.06

Hello there i understand your feelings, but you should upgrade your firmware to 1.60 and not 1.06

Kindly i urge you to read the last page of BDP-S1 thread ,you will find the answer for your question.

Good Luck

For BDp-1000 1.1 is the only update that has ever came out no? While back, in 2006 I think? Or is it something new? I did update my Sammy after I bought it. Do I need another one?

Why come look at Samsung posts for answers when there's two Sony BDP S-1 threads/links in the same forum page's index

Sony BDP-S1 1.60 firmware upgrade and The Sony BDP-S1 Review Thread (Both link to the same place, check the last pages)

I noticed bond (Casino Royale) is kinda glitchy with this new firmware update, as it has frozen a couple of times while loading up. Pirates also was unable to load 1 time. Anyone else had any trouble? The movies do eventually play though.
