here's an excerpt from the article
Quote:
The co-creator of Deadpool says there are definite plans for a spin-off movie, if enough fans show up at theatres to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Artist Robert Liefeld (who along with writer Fabian Nicienza developed the character) said via Twitter last week that the producers of Wolverine told him there were "definite plans to spin off Deadpool if the box office works."

my personal response:

Being that I've seen Origins: Wolverine, I don't see how this is possible....

I was just putting the info out there. I didn't realize it would cause so much hate. You guys crack me up! "Oh no! The world is going to grind to a halt for this stupid idea of a move!" If nothing else these forums are certainly entertaining.

a lot of people just think this will be a pointless movie and are expressing opinions as such. whenever you post a thread people will either like or dislike the topic, and as you said, the results can be somewhat entertaining

Agree.

I'd be psyched to see a Deadpool movie, but I don't want to see a movie centered around the character called Deadpool in the Wolverine movie. Make a Deadpool without linking it to the continuity of the X-men films and I might be able to support it. Make it a closer adaptation of the original character;
[Show spoiler]don't give him an adamantium skeleton, blades in his hands, or cyclops powers, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, he NEEDS A MOUTH.

Deadpool isn't even as significant in the universe
He's a unique character. If they pitch the tone just right, it'd be terrific. He's not a super hero, not even an antihero per se. I'd invisiion a Deadpool film as more like a comedy-action flick, almost a spoof of assassin-type movies.

First Class is the only good "X-men" spin off that could happen. I am much more supportive of that sort of idea than I am of this Magneto picture, the Wolverine picture, or the Deadpool spin-off.

Now Deadpool? Wow, they're starting to grasp for straws it seems. What, in the next decade is EVERY single comic book character going to have their own film?

Deadpool isn't even as significant in the universe as say... Daredevil, Elektra, Ghost Rider, Catwoman... and all those movies stunk it up. Pfft. Getting tired of the comic book movie-thing.

If the film is done in full Rob Liefeld style, I say go for it. It couldn't be any worse than, say, Street Fighter: The Movie, right?

right?
