I've never heard of damages caused by the Orbiter but you might wanna wait till some other owners of Kuro add their viewpoints here.

To quote a website....

Pioneer seriously addresses the issue of image retention, and the entire KURO line features an “orbiter” that shifts the onscreen image just enough to reduce burn-in. In addition, the PRO-110FD has a White Bar video pattern that helps to reduce any after-imaging. If you're a news junkie who watches lots of content with static images like news tickers, or if you play video games with stationary status bars, these are essential features.

Heard that directly from the folks who set up the TV. They said never use it! They were the ISF techs that set it up.

D-Nice seems to have the Orbiter turned on in either 1 or 2 in all his settings. I dislike conflicting reports but I'm gonna go with D-Nice's since he's the ISF tech god as far as I'm concerned

Here are his threads @ AVS for the OP/RIPST21

Perhaps we are talking about two different things. The orbitor at least to my knowledge is that white bar the moves from left to right? I'm not here to start conflicts by any means just share what I've heard.

It would make sense if ISF tech would not use this feature because it may slightly degrade/soften PQ, as reported from users who have tested with PC and test patterns. However, I don't understand how using it would decrease the life of the panel.
I leave it at mode 1. In that case when I watch 1080P content in dot-to-dot mode, orbiter is not engaged, for optimum image fidelity. In this mode, orbiter is engaged on all other screen sizes.

No its all good a lil conflict to bring up the right info is def okay in my book. But yeah thats not the Orbiter, what you are referring to is the White Bar video pattern that helps to reduce any after-imaging.

You'd definitely want to get it calibrated in the future. Buying a TV with that much tweaking power that not taking advantage of it would be a crime .
You should put about 200 hrs on the set before getting it calibrated though. It has been reported that there are major greyscale shifting in those first hundred or two hours.

I would def go with D-Nice as far as getting it calibrated, he can be reached at AVS...he's doing rounds around here VA, MD & DC during May. You're in PG County MD [from your FedEx Field location reference] right? We be neighbors then!
