Sony controls Heavy Metal and released a "Superbit" DVD. I think we will see it on BD before too long.

I'd also like Rock & Rule, but it was released on DVD by a small studio (Unearthed Films) and it isn't as popular (it is better than Fire & Ice, though).

I love Fire & Ice too, and have it on pre-order. Now if they would just release Bakshi's Lord of the Rings movie, Starchaser-The Legend of Orin, Watership Down, and The Plague Dogs on Blu I will be a happy man.

I am going to buy Fire and Ice because Blue Underground I think does great work on their BDs/

I do hope SONY releases a really nice BD releae of HEAVY METAL with the workprint version also that was on the original DVD release. I also own the superbit release.

And they do good work, so it's hard to complain. AB, while slow as well, is also putting out some might fine looking/sounding BDs.

If only both companies could speed up their BD output, that would be awesome, but I know it may not be a reasonable expectation this early in the format's life...

Did anyone pick this up locally? I know it is far more expensive to pick up at best buy etc... just curious... I want to get it also... too bad the doc. Painting with Fire that was part of the 2 Disc DVD set is not included, but I am sure that had somethign to do with licensing and contracts etc.

What I'll probably end up doing is buying a 2 disc bluray case and put the 2nd disc from my DVD version in with the blu-ray.

I haven't bought it yet, waiting to find a good deal on it.

That is a cool idea.... I need to hunt down a 2 Disc set for that second disc. Shouldn't be hard enough sellers on amazon.com have them.

The special features are worth it.

Not sure if there is a slip for the blu, but my 2 disc DVD had a cool lenticular slip cover.

WB's releasing the above film in BOLD... most likely the same time as the film trilogy.

Anyone remember when Best Buy actually had the best prices?? I've only gotten one blu-ray from Best Buy and still kicking myself for paying so much!

I almost picked this up at Best Buy, but I put it back when I saw the price. Cover looks cool, though.

Go back and have them do the Sears price match. :-) 18.89 isn't bad. takes them awahile to find the listing on .com cause they look way too hard lol but it was worth it.

Sears? Do they actually sell BDs in store?

they have a few titles but the trick to price matching with best Buy is just say you want to match "sears price" or target or walmart etc... all they do is pull up their .com site and match what the .com site says.

Now if you were to tell them you want to match the .com price THEY WON'T it is all about the wording. Otherwise they get confused.

Man, I hope it's soon. I love that movie. I remember begging my mom to take me to the midnight showing of it in '78 because that was the only time they were showing it. It'll be a day one purchase for me.
