The UK track is DTS-HD MA 2.0 @ 665 Kbps (the DTS core is 384 Kbps)

The US track is only the core DTS 2.0 @ 384 Kbps

that's not true.
Psycho was released in a "Legacy" edition 2 disc dvd set that has the same artwork as the US bd that was most certainly anamorphic.
that is the latest version of the film before the bd.
Actually, to clarify your clarification , the last two DVD editions were anamorphic widescreen: in The Masterpiece Collection, and The Legacy edition.

Really? They sometimes ship to me on Fridays via A-1 Courier service and I receive it the same day. It's happened at least 5 five times over the last year, making it what - 4 days prior to the release date?

Well I live less than 70 miles from one of Amazon's distribution centers. I never get my discs early or even day of. Usually Thursday or Friday.

Then today I see that B&N has Psycho for $16.99. I think I will buy it and send back other one to Amazon for spite. What do you think or do I just sound whiney? By the way I paid for upgraded shipping.

I bought it yesterday and find the video and audio simply AWESOME....

BUT.......

I dont know how to explain this problem, but I'll try.

Have you ever watched a movie on a sheet? Or a screen that isn't completly flat? If there is a warp or slight wrinkle in the screen, the image wuill reflect by warping the image over that part. Like tacking up a sheet only at the top and not securing it at the bottom and having it wave in the wind wile your watching a movie.

Well, I noticed that at the beginning, I THINK it's in the hotel or maybe right after is when I noticed, but as the camera pans slowly to the right, you can tell that the image is warped on the left side of the screen.

Horizonal lines that should stay that way as the camera pans right, well...it seems warped and it curves as the camera pans. This warp seems consistant in all the scenes I was able to watch last night before going to bed.

Has anyone else noticed this? Am I just imagining this?

I picked this up today.

I realize maybe the UK version is "better" but I don't like steelbook packaging and can't be bothered to wait in this case.

I have the "Lambs to the Slaughter" episode of AH Presents on a DVD as well. (I think that's one of the "extra" features on the UK disc.)

Has ANYONE noticed the slight warped image on the left side of the screen during pans?

Please tell em I'm not the only one who's noticed, or is it just mine?

See my post above for more details.

well are you a prime member? if not then thats why you dont get it on release date or early. If you are then do you click on the link that says get it on release dayte? or do you click on add to cart and then select 2 day shipping? Cause if you do the latter thats why you get it on thurs or fri.

Watched this movie last night for the first time in a long while, and wow, I forgot how powerful and mesmerizing this film was, and it looked stunning. Very happy I got this masterpiece. I'm gonna watch it again later this week.

What is the widescreen controversy of the film? I've seen a few Amazon customers unhappy because the film is prestented in 1.85. That is the correct ratio, right?

The film, like many, was filmed in an open-matte format, and matted to 1:85 in theaters. So yes, the OAR is correct on the BD.

The "controversy" is that the film has been released full-frame before on home video, and some people (who apparently don't understand the concept of matted wide-screen) are upset because some of the picture is cropped to make it 1:85.

That much is true -- BUT the part of the picture that's cropped was NEVER meant to be seen. As proof, in the full-frame version there's one early scene in Marion's room that shows the shadow of the camera on her bed -- something Hitchcock certainly didn't intend.

So as usual, the most fuss is being kick-up by the people who don't know what they're talking about.

phenomenal blu-ray presentation from Universal of this masterpiece.
I would seriously cry if all the Hitchcock films came to blu-ray looking like this.
Universal has had their problems with MANY catalog blu-rays, and have deserved every bit of criticism they have gotten for them.
THIS catalog, however, deserves the highest praise possible, and if Universal gives this level of care to the other Hitchcock films in their control then cinemaphiles across the world will surely feel they are in heaven.

Glad I didn't buy this today, when I got home there was a nice little 15% off any B&N purchase this weekend. So I'll end up getting this for around $15, can't complain about that.
