I'm really surprised no one has mentioned this yet.

You remember at the very end how Snake and Octagon are talking about Snake said that he had 1 more thing left to do? Octagon specifically said that he was going to follow him around and record it.

Possible Movie?!?!?!

Thoughts?

Also, anyone think that Act 1 and Act 5 were the hardest?

1)I thought Act 1 & Act 2 were amazing. This is what I thought the whole game would be like. "Sneaking in the battlefield". Fighting with or against those PMCs for the whole game would have been awesome. They could have done alot of neat things with it.

To me, the game changed alot in the middle of Act 3.

2)It feels like they removed a whole lot of the stealth aspect from the game, and focused more on the "action" part. Don't get me wrong, I still loved it.

3)Also, at one part in Act 2-- when you are freeing the prisoners.. The 3 guys in the hut, not the original prisoners... I was trying to go around and kill each guard one by one, but for some reason they were also reinforced even though NOBODY saw the body. This felt like a broken gameplay mechanic to me. Previously, when you kill a guard, there are no replacements sent unless another guard finds them. My excuse to accept this was that the nanomachines caused it.. but still.

4)I also agree that they should have killed off Raiden. I mean come on.. stopping a boat? How is that even possible? If it's so easy to get fashioned with this cyborg get-up and be able to fight off people with a sword in your mouth.. why didn't the enemies go and get a suit? Apparently that makes you immortal.

5) I can't say how much I love the fact that Johnny became a main character. Long-time fans will known he's been in every Metal Gear. Or, Johnny's father in MGS3.

The install process on each Act is because it is installing the regional textures. Doesn't have anything to do with AI or a different difficulty. It's installing on the first Act again because the most recent install would be Act 5.

They could have bypassed this all together, but that would probably cost 2 or 3 more gigs total. I really don't mind a 2 minute install when switching Acts.

AND OH MY GOD WHY DID THEY REMOVE EUROPEAN EXTREME FROM THE GAME?!?

I knew there was a rational explanation for the installs.

Also Big Boss Extreme is the European Extreme from what I gathered.

Hey I haven't played MGO yet.. but I was curious about the names.

I signed up for the Konami ID and GAME ID awhile ago, but people are telling me there's ANOTHER name you need? Basically, if I signed up a few months ago, is there anything extra I need to do, or is that name secure?

No-- I'm playing through it now. In European Extreme-- if you are seen, Game Over. It's been in all the previous games and I feel like they took alot out here.

Also, what's up with only 2 people in your codec? I feel like alot of the core aspects of MGS were removed.

Still loved it though, don't get me wrong.

Default MGS4 critique (A bit spoiler)

I know that people get burn at the stake for this kind of comments but, does anybody else think that the cinematic scenes were too damn long? I started skipping them after a while but I did go thru the one after the angry Raven (Raging Raven or whatever) and it was over an hour long.

Let me repeat that: Over an hour long. Here's an idea that's been out there in Hollywood for a while: Edit stuff out. Or abridge it.

Let me be clear, this is hands down the best game I have played. The graphics are not one of the best I've seen, they're THE best. Control scheme is deep to the point of almost being overwhelming but you can stick to basic moves and still enjoy the game. And the conceptual design is absolutely stunning, to the point of surpassing most Hollywood blockbuster. The game lives up every bit to its hype.

It just seems that the over-explaining detracted from the highlights of the story and major character backgrounds.

What do you guys think?

All you need is Konami ID and Game ID. Though I find it ridiculous as PSN was suppose to be the standard. Anyway, it looks like they are doing it this way to charge you money for upgrades if from their shop.

EDIT: I think they may be referring the what you name your character once you create it after logging in, but that name can by whatever you want and viewed only by you when you login.

The online for this game was extremely disappointing. The registration process is a joke (why do we need two additional Konami names, why not just use PSN?) and the gameplay is pretty poor as well. The players are too slow to make an online multiplayer game with. Metal Gear is all about sneaking and that just doesn't happen in this online version.

If you want good online fun, get Warhawk or COD4.

If I remember correctly, MGS2 only had one person on Codec for the Tanker/Snake part and two for the Shell/Raiden part. It has been a while since I have played MGS2, but I do remember it did not have all the extra people on Codec like MGS1 or 3.

I am not sure if The Boss Extreme is the same as European Extreme. But you unlock The Boss Extreme once you beat the game on any difficulty. The difficulties are:

Liquid Easy
Naked Normal
Solid Normal
Big Boss Hard
The Boss Extreme (unlocked after one play through)

Well I rented it yesterday and despite my *****ing about installation of data, the initial install wasn't that bad. Historically I've always sucked at MGS games so I'm playing MGS4 on the easiest difficulty. I figured I'll enjoy the game more this way. The starting point is very impressive with those things with 2 legs jumping around and getting you used to using your surroundings and sneaking past them. The surround sound is very loud and precise which impressed me immediately. I LOVED the Dolby Digital trailer with the water droplets added in before you play. That was cool. Reminded me of seeing it at the theater. I've made it to the point where the guy who was shitting in the barrel jumps me and some other people come out with guns, so I don't know how far in I am. (can someone tell me?) The graphics are impressive as well. Easily one of the best looking games I've ever seen. I'm not too thrilled with all the cut scenes and even more loading between levels. Sometimes I feel like I'm running to the goal, watch a cut scene, load, press start, start running to goal again. But getting to the goal is pretty fun. I guess with the difficulty on the easiest I've probably turned this into a run-and-gun game and I'm ok with that. I'll keep playing.

I don't mind the cut scenes being they length they are, I feel like the emotional excitement from the game is so high for me that it never completely goes away during the cinematics.

your still in act one, theres loads of cut scenes, I would call act 4 the one with the least cutscenes, belive me when I started it I thought It wasn't as good as MGS2(my fave) but when I completed it was at least 5 times better (which is saying something cos MGS2 was my favourite game of all time, and I've played alot of games)

The only time the cut scenes are too long is in the mission briefing.... waaay too much needless crap in there. I like the rest of them though.

That was there code name so they could speak freely about them, remember the Patriots were able to read "EVERYTHING" about everyone with Nanos such as there weight, size, race, age, brain wave activity, muscular build, mood, pain or anything they wanted. They needed a password so they could speak freely about them without the Patriots knowing who there were speaking about.
